Leave the car at home and take an evening stroll down to Bassenthwaite Lake shore via the footpath just outside the door or explore the paths around Powter How woodland. The adventurous can try out wild swimming and paddleboarding, whilst Barf and Lords Seat up to Whinlatter and Wythop offer a range of routes for cyclists and walkers and the C2C cycleroute passes nearby. The osprey viewpoint may be on the other side of the lake but the adult birds regularly fish in Bassenthwaite and can be seen equally well from the west side, a must see for wildlife lovers. Head either way along the lake and you will find a pub, the renowned Pheasant Inn at the north end of Bassenthwaite Lake, or a choice of traditional country pubs in Braithwaite.
The north-western Lake District offers numerous attractions to suit everyone. Keswick, vibrant hub of the northern Lakes, is just 4 miles away offering a plethora of outdoor activities, plus rainy day options: museums, cafes, restaurants and the chance to take in a show at the Theatre by the Lake. The walking in this area is second to none with both well known and lesser known fells to explore plus plenty of low level walks too. Visit the attractive market town of Cockermouth or continue over to the coast for a change of scene, you could even head up to Carlisle and follow in the footsteps of the Romans along Hadrian's Wall. Closer to home, indulge yourself with an afternoon of relaxation at the spa at Armathwaite Hall or take a tour of the Lakes Distillery finishing with a tasting, lovely! Gather round the dining table, the perfect place for comparing notes on the day's events over a hearty home cooked meal, before moving to the comfortable living area. Relax in front of the feature double sided wood burner, ideal for cosy nights in in front of the fire. For entertainment there's a Smart TV with Freeview. The double sided wood burner also serves the bright sun room. A wonderfully calming room, it's the perfect place to catch up with a good book - if you can tear yourself away from the stunning views over the lake and fells that is. Ornithologists will love sitting in here too and watching the comings and goings of the many birds who also like to pay this cottage - or its garden at least! - a visit.

In here you'll find a selection of games and books as well as table football, all sure to be a hit with children and adults alike. Head upstairs to the first floor and you'll find the four spacious bedrooms. First up we have the beautiful master bedroom which has delightful views towards Whinlatter Forest. Why not relax in the super-king bed and enjoy an indulgent lie in? You are on holiday after all! This bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom with a WC, wasbasin and bath with shower over, so all tastes are catered for.
Next up there are two lovely super-king rooms. Both of these bedrooms contain zip-and-link beds and can be made up as twins upon request and have wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. Last but by no means least is the charming double room which has a 4 foot 6 bed. The garden enjoys stunning views of the Skiddaw fells across Bassenthwaite Lake, take a seat on the garden furniture and just take it all in. There is lots of wildlife around, sit and wait and see what comes by - you will also have a grandstand seat for watching the ospreys fishing in the lake in the summer. There is also parking for three cars on the gravelled area by the cottage, as well as a shed for storing bikes (remember to bring your own bike locks with you) if you prefer to explore on two wheels.
