Enjoying an enviable elevated position overlooking stunning Ullswater, this is a fantastic cottage for six people. You're sure to feel right at home here. The large entrance hallway leads you into the ground floor accommodation. Here you'll find the spacious living room, separate dining room and well-equipped kitchen. Also on the ground floor is a useful utility room and handy extra WC. Upstairs on the first floor are the three spacious double bedrooms. The master bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom and there's also a modern family bathroom on the first floor too. Outside, there is a large enclosed garden overlooking Ullswater, the perfect backdrop for meals alfresco - you could quite easily spend your whole holiday sitting out here!
If you do fancy venturing further than the garden, walkers will delight at what's on offer around the property and there are a wealth of local footpaths that pass close by the front door. Walk to the lake shore or head to Aira Force, a 10-minute drive away, for picturesque woodland walks alongside this majestic waterfall. From here, you can continue onwards and upwards up Gowbarrow Fell for stunning views over Ullswater. Visit Pooley Bridge, a charming village at the northern end of Ullswater; stock up on souvenirs and local treats from the village shop, enjoy a peaceful walk along the lake shore or hitch a ride on the Ullswater steamer to enjoy the water from a different perspective. Your closest pub is just a 5-minute walk away, perfect for a hearty meal and refreshing drink in a convivial atmosphere after a day out exploring.
Take a scenic drive over Kirkstone Pass (recommended in good weather only, as it's the highest pass in the Lake District that's open to motor traffic) and down into bustling Ambleside. Spend a morning looking around the independent and outdoor shops before stopping for lunch at one of the quirky cafes or delis. Continue on to Bowness-on-Windermere, admire the boats in the harbour before enjoying fish and chips by the lake. Perfect.
Leave coats and boots in the large and welcoming entrance hallway before continuing into the spacious living room, which has wonderful lake views. Relax on the sofa in front of the electric fire, ideal for cosy evenings in or for spending a peaceful afternoon catching up with a good book. Ornithologists will love sitting in here and watching the comings and goings of the many birds who also like to pay the house - or its garden at least! - a visit. If you can tear your eyes away from the stunning view, there's also a TV with Freeview for entertainment.
The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, useful microwave, dishwasher and handy washer/dryer. Gather round the wooden table in the separate dining room, which also has breathtaking views over Ullswater; it's the perfect place for comparing notes on the day's adventures over a hearty home-cooked meal.
