Surrounded by the magnificent beauty of the Newlands Valley, this is a wonderful cottage for up to eight people. With stunning views from all sides and comfortable, welcoming accommodation, you're sure to feel right at home here. The fantastic kitchen has a sliding patio door out to the garden, perfect for bringing the outside in on warm days. The living room also has a sliding patio door as well as a wood burner and large TV, ideal for relaxing evenings in.
With such beautiful scenery on your doorstep, there's certainly plenty to explore. Walk straight from the door to the top of Catbells, the climb is definitely worth the views from the summit! Take the picturesque 3-mile walk along the beck as it winds its way to the village of Braithwaite. Stock up on supplies from the village shop here or treat yourselves to refreshments from one of the three pubs in the village before making the return journey. Spend a day at nearby Whinlatter Forest Park. Walk through the enchanting woodland trails or hire mountain bikes to explore on two wheels. Adrenaline junkies will love the Go Ape High Ropes course, or why not walk an alpaca for something a little bit different?
Walk, cycle, or catch the launch (nearest jetty about 1 mile away) into Keswick. In the summer months a Stagecoach bus runs a circular route from Keswick down Borrowdale, over Honister Pass to Buttermere, onto Whinlatter and back to Keswick - in both directions. There is a stop for this bus at the bottom of Catbells, only a short walk from the cottage. This is perfect for a long walk out in many directions and a ride back. Indulge in some retail therapy at the town's great selection of independent and outdoor shops. Take in a film at the family owned Alhambra cinema or catch a show at the renowned Theatre by the Lake. Head to Derwentwater for a day at, in or on the water. Enjoy a lakeside picnic, hire a rowing boat or catch a ride on the popular launch and let someone else do the hard work!
As you enter into the spacious hallway you're sure to feel right at home. Hang up your coat and find plenty of space to sit whilst you remove your boots. Off the hallway you will find a games room, the stairs and a cloakroom. Enter a door at the end of the hallway to find the kitchen/diner. Carry on through to the lounge.
Cooks are sure to love the modern country-style kitchen. Well-equipped, with an electric range-style oven with induction hob, fridge/freezer, handy microwave and a Nespresso coffee machine. There's also a dishwasher so there's no need to fight over who has to do the dishes but once you see the view from the kitchen sink you might not mind after all! The kitchen also has a Smart TV where you can log in to your own Netflix account (remember to log out before you leave). The dining table with seats for eight at the end of the kitchen is perfect for sociable mealtimes. Gather round the dining table and compare notes on the day's events over a hearty homecooked meal. A handy utility room houses a second large fridge/freezer and a useful washer, dryer and drying rack.
The spacious living room has a choice of two sofas and occasional chairs positioned around the cosy wood burner, perfect for relaxing nights in. There's a Smart TV for entertainment, if you can tear yourselves away from the views that is! Also on the ground floor is a real treat: a bonus games room. With a table football table as well as a piano and a large table ideal for jigsaws, there's something to suit everyone and will surely delight young people and adults alike.
Up the stairs to the first floor where you'll find the four bedrooms and three bathrooms. All of the bedrooms have stunning views over the surrounding landscape. Make the most of the peace and quiet of the tranquil setting and indulge in a long lie in - you are on holiday after all! There are two lovely double bedrooms, one of these being the smallest bedroom, that both benefit from having en-suite shower rooms with WC, and there are two spacious twin rooms. The family bathroom has a bath, separate shower and WC - enjoy a long soak in the tub or reinvigorate muscles tired from walking in the modern shower cubicle. On the landing you'll also find a bonus additional seating area, the perfect spot for a quiet few moments catching up with a good book.
To the front of the cottage is a wonderful garden and patio area. With outdoor furniture it's the perfect place to dine alfresco with a stunning backdrop - talk about dinner with a view! Ornithologists will love sitting out here and watching the comings and goings of the many birds who also like to pay the garden a visit too. Please avoid using the rear garden - ss the house is built on the hillside, the rear garden is very steep and there are some extremely steep drops.
As well as parking for two to three cars, there's also a garage which can be used for securely storing bikes - ideal if you'd like to get out and about on two wheels instead of four.
