A real home from home, this cosy cottage welcomes four people and one lucky dog. The welcoming living/dining room comes complete with wood burner and stunning views towards Helvellyn. The well-equipped kitchen is at the rear of the cottage and has views up Glenridding Dodd. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, a spacious king-size master bedroom and a cosy twin room, along with the family bathroom. As well as private parking for one car, there is an outdoor seating area to the front of the cottage and a lockable store for bikes, perfect for those who prefer to explore by pedal power.

Enjoying a remote, elevated position on the edge of the charming village of Glenridding and surrounded by such magnificent scenery, there's certainly plenty to see and do straight from the front door. A climb up mighty Helvellyn is a must for the serious fell walker, with Striding Edge an option for the well prepared. The intriguing Greenside Mine on the slopes gives clues to the area's industrial heritage. For lower level adventures walk along the shore of Ullswater or explore the woods surrounding the magnificent Aira Force waterfall. After all that exercise you'll be in need of some refreshment, and there's a couple of great places to eat nearby.

Why not venture to Pooley Bridge, at the eastern end of Ullswater? Stock up on souvenirs and enjoy a pitstop of coffee and homemade cake at one the independent cafes. Spend a day exploring the wealth of walking and cycling routes on offer at nearby Lowther Castle, now just an intriguing facade, there's also a fantastic outdoor adventure playground that children will love. Head to the bustling market town of Keswick, less than a 30-minute drive away, for a great choice of independent and outdoor shops. Take in a film at the cinema or enjoy a performance at the renowned Theatre by the Lake.

Head inside and into the inviting living/dining room. The dining area is positioned snugly beneath the staircase, whilst the sofas and armchair are gathered round the cosy wood burner, just perfect for a relaxing evening in front of the fire. There's a TV for entertainment, if you can tear yourselves away from the views that is! At the rear of the cottage is the well-equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, plenty of storage space, a breakfast bar and dishwasher. There is also a larder which is great for additional storage and also houses the washing machine and full-size fridge/freezer.

The open tread stairs lead from the living room up to the first floor and the two lovely bedrooms. First up is the master bedroom. A bright spacious room with a king-size bed, you're sure to feel instantly relaxed in here. Indulge in a long lie in with your morning cuppa whilst admiring the fantastic view towards Helvellyn and plan your day. Next up is the cosy twin room. This room contains two single beds and has delightful views up Glenridding Dodd. The family bathroom completes the first floor. As well as the WC, there's a bath with a hand-held shower attachment as well as an electric shower.

To the front of the cottage is a small garden area, with a wooden table and chairs which is a lovely suntrap. It's a wonderful place to return to after a day on the fells. As well as parking at the far end of the terrace, you'll also find a stone outbuilding at the opposite side that's ideal for securely storing bikes if you'd like to get out and about on two wheels.

This is a lovely cottage with everything you need for a family holiday. We had lots of rain but the wood-burner meant we also enjoyed days in. Plenty of food and shops to keep you going in the village if you need it and walks from the door.

We had a wonderful stay! The cottage is in a perfect location with fantastic views. It is small but has everything needed. We appreciated how clean and welcoming the cottage was on arrival, and enjoyed the wine and Kendal mint cake, thank you! It was our second stay and we would book again - Glenridding and the local area are beautiful.

Lovely cottage, ideal for two or three people. So peaceful and comfortable, close enough to the village to get what you need. We brought most of supplies from home, and there were loads of walks from the cottage!

We could only get away for a short stay but the cottage was perfect for us. All the equipment that we could possibly need was provided. The views to the front are stunning and we enjoyed the walk into village which was a leisurely 15 minutes away .. but takes longer uphill on the way back! We tried both of the pubs. The Ullswater Inn was the busiesRead moret but we were disappointed with the food. The Travellers Rest is only a stones throw from the cottage and really small with friendly staff. Hide

Fantastic location for the fells and Glenridding. Very clean and comfy. The cottage was a great retreat after days out in very chilly (but enjoyable) conditions on Helvellyn and surrounding hills.

Lovely rugged location close to Helvellyn and Ullswater. The cottage hadn't been cleaned when we got there, and was very cold, but the agents sent out a team to clean it and their apology seemed very genuine. It spoiled our first evening though. It was very cold and snowy during our stay, which was great, so I'd urge visitors to bring warm clothes Read moreand extra blankets. The cottage did warm up with the heating system and the wood-burner. Hide

Lovely cottage in a quiet spot just outside Glenridding on the way up towards Helvellyn (or more accurately Glenridding Dodd I guess). Also, handy for the Travellers Rest pub, which is a nice, traditional pub that hasn't been tarted up like the rest of the pubs in the village.
