Enjoying a remote, elevated position on the edge of the charming village of Glenridding and surrounded by such magnificent scenery, there's certainly plenty to see and do straight from the front door. A climb up mighty Helvellyn is a must for the serious fell walker, with Striding Edge an option for the well prepared. The intriguing Greenside Mine on the slopes gives clues to the area's industrial heritage. For lower level adventures walk along the shore of Ullswater or explore the woods surrounding the magnificent Aira Force waterfall. After all that exercise you'll be in need of some refreshment, and there's a couple of great places to eat nearby.
Why not venture to Pooley Bridge, at the eastern end of Ullswater? Stock up on souvenirs and enjoy a pitstop of coffee and homemade cake at one the independent cafes. Spend a day exploring the wealth of walking and cycling routes on offer at nearby Lowther Castle, now just an intriguing facade, there's also a fantastic outdoor adventure playground that children will love. Head to the bustling market town of Keswick, less than a 30-minute drive away, for a great choice of independent and outdoor shops. Take in a film at the cinema or enjoy a performance at the renowned Theatre by the Lake.
Head inside and into the inviting living/dining room. The dining area is positioned snugly beneath the staircase, whilst the sofas and armchair are gathered round the cosy wood burner, just perfect for a relaxing evening in front of the fire. There's a TV for entertainment, if you can tear yourselves away from the views that is! At the rear of the cottage is the well-equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, plenty of storage space, a breakfast bar and dishwasher. There is also a larder which is great for additional storage and also houses the washing machine and full-size fridge/freezer.
The open tread stairs lead from the living room up to the first floor and the two lovely bedrooms. First up is the master bedroom. A bright spacious room with a king-size bed, you're sure to feel instantly relaxed in here. Indulge in a long lie in with your morning cuppa whilst admiring the fantastic view towards Helvellyn and plan your day. Next up is the cosy twin room. This room contains two single beds and has delightful views up Glenridding Dodd. The family bathroom completes the first floor. As well as the WC, there's a bath with a hand-held shower attachment as well as an electric shower.
To the front of the cottage is a small garden area, with a wooden table and chairs which is a lovely suntrap. It's a wonderful place to return to after a day on the fells. As well as parking at the far end of the terrace, you'll also find a stone outbuilding at the opposite side that's ideal for securely storing bikes if you'd like to get out and about on two wheels.
