As well as parking for two cars, there's also a wonderful games shed at the end of the drive that's sure to be a hit with children and adults alike!
Backbarrow sits on the banks of the River Leven and clues to this area's industrial heritage can be found all around. Follow the river through the village to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, built to transport coal and iron inland from the coast, now a popular tourist attraction where the trains take you through scenic countryside to the bustling Bowness-on-Windermere. Another great attraction on the doorstep is the Lakeland Motor Museum. It makes a fascinating way to spend the day and has an excellent riverside cafe for lunch with a view.
Why not spend a day exploring Windermere, a short drive away? Indulge in some retail therapy or enjoy a cruise around the lake to experience the landscape from a different perspective. Head north east to magnificent Coniston Water where Donald Campbell attempted to break the water speed record in his jet engine boat, Bluebird mk II. There are plenty of fantastic walking and cycling opportunities here, from the mighty Coniston Old Man to gentler woodland and lakeshore rambles. Spend a day exploring the stunning southern coast of Cumbria, with its wide horizons and fresh coastal air it's the perfect place to truly unwind.
Leave coats and boots by the door before continuing onwards into this charming cottage. The open-plan living-dining-kitchen area is a wonderful social space. A real treat at the house is the addition of a games shed tucked away at the end of the drive - this fantastic bonus space is sure to delight children and adults alike! With table tennis table and a dart board, it's the perfect place to escape to on a wet afternoon. This shed also doubles as a great place to securely store bikes or canoes, for those who prefer to explore their local area on two-wheels or by paddle power.
