Escape to this romantic hideaway in the pretty English village of Grasmere, famous for its connections to poet William Wordsworth, and its delicious gingerbread.
As the name suggests, this cottage is a wonderful place for two people to enjoy a fabulous holiday in beautiful surroundings. The first floor accommodation feels both luxurious but also wonderfully homely. Cook up a feast in the well-equipped kitchen/diner before retiring to the lovely living room to relax in front of the wood burner. With a bespoke wood super-king-size bed, the bedroom is a real treat, perfect for a holiday lie in or two! If you prefer, the bedroom can be made up as a twin upon request. The shower room is just as fantastic with its luxurious monsoon shower. There is private parking for two cars at the cottage, a real bonus so close to the centre of Grasmere. For guest use only, there is an Easee One, type 2 untethered 7kW electric vehicle charger. There is no charge for using the EV charger, but you will need to provide your own charging lead compatible with a type 2 charging socket.
The centre of Grasmere is a short walk from Longsyke Retreat. This pretty village is rightly popular with visitors and locals alike. There are a great selection of independent shops for those who'd like to indulge in some retail therapy and some lovely independent cafes for that all important coffee and homemade cake pitstop. Fancy an evening off from cooking? Treat yourselves to a hearty meal in a convivial atmosphere at popular Tweedies Bar or head to the quirky Jumble Room for some delicious home cooked dishes. There are plenty of wonderful walks nearby too. Head up local fell Loughrigg for stunning panoramic views or take the walk from the village up to Easedale Tarn, a beautiful spot for a picnic lunch. Both dogs and humans will love exploring the woodland paths at White Moss.
Take a scenic drive south from Grasmere to Ambleside where you can treat yourselves to dinner and a movie. Enjoy a cruise round Lake Windermere or hop on the ferry to Hawkshead across the water, another charming village that was once home to Beatrix Potter. Why not spend a day exploring the magnificent Langdale Valley? With its rugged mountains and peaceful tarns, it's a must for any avid fell walker. Head up Lingmoor Fell for stunning, panoramic views of the lakes. Stop off at one of the traditional pubs on your way back for a hearty meal and refreshing drink.
Everything has been thought of to make your stay as comfortable as possible with a generous welcome hamper, complimentary toiletries in the bathrooms.
On the ground floor is a handy entrance hall, ideal for unloading wet coats and boots before heading up to the first floor where you'll find the fabulous accommodation.
First up is the well-equipped kitchen/dining room. With a range cooker that has two electric ovens, grill, gas and ceramic hobs, a handy microwave, fridge/freezer, useful washer/dryer and dishwasher, there'll be no fighting over who has to do the washing up here - though you might not mind once you've seen the views from the kitchen sink! The large wooden dining table in the middle of the room means you can keep the chef company. Also perfectly suited for spreading out maps and guide books, why not plan your next day's adventures whilst enjoying a delicious home-cooked meal? Next up we have the bright living room. Relax on the corner sofa in front of the cosy wood burner. The wall mounted Smart HD TV has a full Sky Q package, perfect for romantic evenings in.
Onwards to the bedroom. A gorgeous super-king room (that can be made up as a twin on request), decorated in calming greens, you're sure to feel instantly relaxed in here. Bring your morning cuppa back to bed and indulge in a long lie in, catch up on some TV (the wall mounted TV opposite the bed has Sky Q) or simply enjoy a peaceful few moments relaxing in beautiful surroundings. As well as the WC and wash basin, the shower room has a fantastic shower cubicle with luxurious modern rainfall shower, perfect for reinvigorating tired muscles after a day out exploring.
