This is a charming two-bedroom cottage for four people. On the ground floor you'll find the characterful dining kitchen. Also on the ground floor are the two bedrooms: a delightful twin room and a lovely master double bedroom with its own en-suite bathroom. There's also a handy shower room downstairs too. Head up the stairs to the first floor and you'll soon realise why the living room is up here: it's all about the stunning view! Outside is an enclosed garden with outdoor furniture, perfect for dining alfresco.
Located close to the popular village of Bassenthwaite, both Keswick and Cockermouth are within easy reach and there's plenty on offer straight from the front door. Don't forget to bring your walking boots, the fantastic views are sure to inspire! Experienced fell walkers can tackle mighty Skiddaw, England's fourth highest mountain, and its smaller neighbours of Ullock Pike, Great- and Little Calva. For those who prefer a more gentle woodland walk, Dodd Wood is sure to delight. Keep your eyes peeled for the great variety of birds and wildlife who call this place home; if you're lucky enough, you might even get to catch a glimpse of the ospreys who visit this area too. If two wheels are more your thing (secure bike storage is available at the cottage) then head to nearby Whinlatter Forest for a day on the trails.
Bassenthwaite is conveniently located between the bustling market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth. The latter is the birthplace of William Wordsworth and you can visit his childhood home when in the town, ideal for any poetry fans. The more well known of the two, Keswick has plenty on offer. Sign up for a day's activities with one of the local adventure companies - try your hand at ghyll scrambling, kayaking or the via ferrata, perfect for adrenaline junkies. Enjoy some retail therapy at the town's outdoor and independent shops. Or why not treat yourselves to an evening out? Take in a film at the art deco cinema or play at the aptly named Theatre by the Lake.
Dating back to the 1750s, you'll find charming characterful features throughout this welcoming home from home. Head into the spacious dining kitchen and you'll see original beams and exposed brickwork. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you'd need for a self catering holiday: there's an electric oven and hob, full size fridge/freezer, handy microwave and useful washing machine. Gather round the wooden dining table, the perfect place to compare notes on your day's adventures. Also on the ground floor are the two bedrooms. The lovely master bedroom has a double bed, bedside table, wardrobe and a useful desk - no excuse not to write a postcard or two! The double bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom. As well as the WC and wash basin, there's also a bath with shower over so all tastes are catered for; indulge in a long soak in the tub or reinvigorate tired muscles in the shower. The second bedroom is a delightful twin room, for storage there's a wardrobe and handy chest of drawers complete with dressing table mirror. A separate shower room, with WC and double shower cubicle, completes the ground floor.
Head up the stairs to the first floor where you'll find the lovely living room. Gaze out of the window at the stunning views and you'll quickly realise why the owners have decided to have the living room up here! Enjoy a peaceful moment looking towards the stunning Skiddaw range. If you can tear your eyes away from the view, the bright living room is ideal for relaxing with a good book and for entertainment there's a Smart TV.
Outside is an enclosed lawned garden. With outdoor furniture, it's the perfect place for that first morning cuppa or refreshing evening G&T (if you'd rather someone else made the drinks, there's a bar just over the road or a populer inn is about a mile away in the heart of Bassenthwaite village); dine alfresco or just sit back and enjoy a few moments calm in this pretty garden. Secure bike storage can also be made available in the owner's lockable garage if you fancy exploring the area on two wheels.
