Located in a rural spot on the outskirts of Bowness-on-Windermere, the village is just under two miles away by car. If you want to head off on foot, the Dales Way footpath runs close to the house and takes you into Bowness in just over one mile. For dining out do sample the fine dining menu at a local diner just up the road from it or head into Bowness and Windermere for a choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes. If you’re a keen golfer, then you’ll enjoy having Windermere Golf Course nearby and anyone who enjoys messing about on a boat has a great range of hire and launching options to get out on the lake. There is also a network of lovely rural footpaths nearby with ever-changing and ever-beautiful views.
This characterful holiday home is ideally located for exploring the southern Lake District. Bowness is just a short drive away giving you access to Windermere lake shore and the regular boat services across the lake linking all the local attractions as well as providing stunning views on the way. Explore the independent shops in the courtyards of the pretty market town of Kendal, follow the trail of Wordsworth to picture-perfect Grasmere or explore the lesser known areas of the Lake District peninsulas bordering on to Morecombe Bay.
As you step through the original barn door, you enter the spacious entrance hall. From here is the first bedroom with king-size bed, TV, small wardrobe, chests of drawers and bedside tables. There is a bathroom here too, with shower over the bath. Stairs lead to a galleried area – it’s a great space for working if you have bought work away on holiday with you, or kids love it to spy on the adults in the lounge below.
From the entrance hall is the lounge – a welcoming space with wood burner, large contemporary leather sofa and quality furnishings, high ceilings with wooden beams. There is a Smart TV in here, DVD player and a Bluetooth speaker.
A few steps up from the lounge leads you to the kitchen which has a dining table as well as more comfortable seating – a sofa and two tub chairs which look out of the large window to the garden and lovely far reaching views beyond. The kitchen is an exceptional space, fully equipped with an electric oven, 5 zone induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine, DAB radio and plenty of storage space. There is also a utility room with washing machine and a wine cooling fridge downstairs.
Stairs from the kitchen lead down to two further bedrooms, both of which are en-suite. The master bedroom here has king-size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables and an en-suite shower room, and the second bedroom has two single beds wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside table, TV, DVD and an en-suite bathroom (with shower over the bath).
The large garden outside has uninterrupted views of the surrounding fields and rolling hills. It’s a fabulous space with a large lawned area and a fire pit at the bottom. Immediately outside the house there is a patio area with garden furniture – the perfect space for a BBQ!
The garden backs on to open countryside and Cleabarrow Tarn can be seen at the other side of the lane. Take in the view before you set off on one of the very many walks that start on your doorstep.
