This romantic bolthole is situated by the idyllic shores of Derwentwater, perfect for a relaxing getaway for two. Enjoy both vibrant culture and tranquil settings at your door.
This lovely holiday property is just that! An escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A peaceful haven in a small corner of the lovely village of Portinscale, you can retreat from modern life here. Leave your car for the week and explore the area at a slow pace on foot. Notice nature unfurling. There are walks aplenty right from the door step. The shores of Derwentwater are a five minute stroll away. Walk along the woodland paths by the lake for a mile or so and you'll come to Catbells with Maiden Moor beyond - a worthy ridge climb that gives you panoramic views towards Keswick and the surrounding fells.
The cottage itself is the perfect escape. With no TV, you can get a digital detox - don't forget to bring a deck of cards for your trip. The cottage offers stylish simplicity in a beautiful area. And if you want to enter the world of modern electronics then The Chalet Tearooms, a minute's walk away.
The market town of Keswick is a 20 minute walk away, or you can hop on the launch at Nichol End and take a boat into town. Here there are shops, restaurants, a climbing wall, cinema and plenty of activities to choose from.
The entrance leads into the lounge with slate flagged floors and leather armchairs. Although the wood burner is not in use, the fireplace itself is an interesting geological work of art - using stone from all the different parts of the Lake District, from Borrowdale Slate to Eskdale Granite to St Bees Sandstone. There is no TV and the dining table in the lounge doubles up as a handy games table for a battle of Scrabble or Canasta. Beyond the lounge is the kitchen which has an electric oven and hob, larder fridge and storage space. The bathroom is beyond the kitchen and has a bath with shower over it.
Wooden open tread stairs lead to the bedroom which has a double bed, side tables and a wardrobe.
Outside there is space to enjoy the morning sun. Parking is on-street.
