Head up the stairs to the sleeping quarters: a wonderful master bedroom with king-size bed and a delightful twin room with enviable views. The family bathroom up here has a luxurious feel thanks to its very inviting bathtub. Outside is an enclosed garden with lawn and sitting out areas, not forgetting a private hot tub for four - just the perfect way to top off your holiday!

Leadgate is a small, peaceful hamlet enjoying a rural location not far from the remote village of Alston. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, there's plenty to explore straight from the front door so pack a picnic and head out to see what you can find. The remains of Whitely Castle, once a Roman Fort, can be found just a stone's throw from the cottage and is sure to ignite your curiosity into this area's interesting heritage. The famous Hadrian's Wall is a short drive away, walk part of the wall yourselves or head to one of the many museums on offer to learn even more. The South Tynedale Railway, the highest narrow-gauge railway in England, starts at Alston and is sure to delight children and adults alike.

If you fancy heading slightly further afield, then a day trip into the Lake District National Park is a must. Head to Keswick, the adventure capital of the North Lakes, for a fun-filled day out. Hire a canoe or rowing boat to explore Derwentwater - or let someone else do the work and hitch a ride on the launch where you can just sit back and soak in the breathtaking scenery.

Head up the two steps to the entrance and inside this stunning cottage - you won't be disappointed. The well-equipped kitchen is sure to impress the cooks in your party, everything has been thought of in here. There's an electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, handy microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. For caffeine fans, there's also a coffee machine. Onwards to the spacious living-dining room. Make mealtimes special Again by gathering round the dining table to enjoy a hearty meal. The living area is the perfect place to relax after a day out exploring - for entertainment there's a Smart TV and an Amazon Echo, so you don't even need to leave the comfort of the sofa to change your playlist! French doors from the living area lead out the patio, so you can bring the outside in on warm summer days.

Also on the ground floor is a useful shower room. With WC, heated towel rail and shower cubicle, it's a great addition to the family bathroom upstairs; with two bathrooms for two bedrooms, there'll be no long queues for the bathroom in the morning here!

Up the beautiful wooden staircase to the first floor, where you'll find the bedrooms and family bathroom. The master bedroom is a wonderful place to retreat to. It has a king-size wooden bed, chest of drawers for storage and feels wonderfully cosy thanks to its feature tripod lamp providing lovely soft lighting. The charming twin bedroom contains two single beds, arranged either side of a window overlooking the surrounding fields. In here there's also a handy chest of drawers. Along the landing is the family bathroom. As with downstairs, there's a WC and heated towel rail. A wonderful bath (with shower attachment) completes the room so you can indulge in a long soak if a shower isn't your thing.

The lovely garden is enclosed and benefits from both a lawn and patio, so both humans and dog should be happy! As the cottage and garden are surrounded by farmland and livestock, dogs will need to be kept on their lead at all times. A private hot tub for four is a welcome addition to this delightful garden - it will give the term 'soaking in the views' a whole new meaning! Enjoy an al fresco meal before retiring happy and content back inside this beautiful cottage.

The cottage was so beautiful and comfortable. The views are amazing. The garden is completely enclosed so safe for dogs to run around in. Delia was really helpful whenever we needed anything but otherwise, left us to our own devices. The location was so perfect. Completely rural and peaceful but only 5 mins drive from a shop and a pub.
