The enclosed garden overlooking the surrounding fields (you might even have some neighbouring livestock during your stay!) is a wonderful spot to while away the hours.
Skirwith is a peaceful village located in the beautiful Eden Valley. This quieter part of the county still has plenty to see and do. A network of footpaths and bridleways wind their way through Skirwith and its neighbouring villages, why not leave the car and head out on foot to explore what's on your doorstep? In nearby Little Salkeld you'll find Long Meg and her daughters, as well as Lacy's Caves - both a must for anyone intrigued by local history. For a hearty meal, head to the pub, both just a short drive from Skirwith.
Stunning Ullswater is a must for a grand day out! Pack a picnic and enjoy a day on the water: try a spot of wild swimming, hire a canoe or rowing boat - or hitch a ride on the stately steamer and let someone else do the hard work. Children and adults alike will love a trip to Lowther Castle and Gardens; hire a bike and spend the morning exploring the estate's wealth of cycle tracks before heading to the adventure playground, not forgetting a pitstop in the cafe to refuel!
