Barbon is a charming Dales village. Peaceful yet with its own famous village store, and cosy local pub, you've got the best of both worlds here. Stock up on supplies from the village store and head off on foot to find a picturesque spot for a picnic - there are plenty of footpaths and country roads to explore. Around 3 miles away is the beautiful market town of Kirkby Lonsdale. Here you'll find a great choice of independent shops, cafes and restaurants making it the perfect destination for a day out. Head to nearby Ingleton where you can enjoy the popular Waterfalls Trail or visit the stunning White Scar Caves .
If you fancy heading further afield, there's so much to see and do. Why not spend the day exploring Bowness and Windermere? A walk up to Orrest Head and onwards to Brant Fell will reward you with some of the most stunning panoramic views; enjoy a cruise around Windermere to enjoy the water from a different perspective and be sure to finish the day off with fish and chips by the lake. Bookworms will rejoice at a trip to Sedbergh, England's Book Town, whilst fans of real ale will love a visit to Dent Brewery, one of the most remote in Britain.
Accessed via five stone steps, the accommodation is then all laid out on the ground floor making it a wonderfully easy cottage to live in. The country-style kitchen is light, bright and spacious. Well equipped with everything you'd need for a self catering stay - there's an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, handy microwave and useful dishwasher - it's sure to delight the chef du jour. The dining table and chairs can also be found in the kitchen, making it a great sociable space. Down two steps from the kitchen and it's into the spacious living room. With its vaulted ceiling and original beams, you really get a sense of the cottage's history. A wonderfully calm-feeling room, it's the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Onwards to the bedroom. Containing a chest of drawers, two bedside tables and a wooden king-size bed why not indulge in a lie in or simply curl up with a good book? The modern bathroom has a shower over the bath (as well as the requisite sink and WC) so all tastes are catered for here.
