Situated in the peaceful village of Ravenstonedale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this cottage is the ideal base for launching into both the Dales and the UNESCO Lake District National Park. The cottage sleeps up to four guests across two bedrooms with outlooks to pastures front and rear where sheep peacefully graze.

Ravenstonedale offers a wide variety of activities including walking, cycling, golf, horse riding, a children's play park and tennis courts. The fells and footpaths that surround Ravenstonedale are a paradise for walkers, whether your idea of a good walk is a stiff mountain climb or a meander along a gentle valley, and include The Howgills, Orton Scar and Smardale Nature Reserve. The area around Ravenstonedale is popular with cyclists (both roadies and mountain bikers) with a myriad of uncrowded narrow country lanes undulating through superb Cumbrian scenery. Circular routes on roads that meander through open fells and moorland taking in small villages and hamlets are aplenty. The village itself boasts three 'foodie' pubs for when you don't wish to cook but need refreshment. Two pubs, one award winning, are both within 5-10 minutes' walk of the cottage. Yet another pub is only 1.5 miles away, so you are truly spoilt for choice.

The scenic Settle to Carlisle Railway can be accessed from nearby Kirkby Stephen, offering some of the best views of the Yorkshire Dales to the south, Cumbrian vistas to the north, picture-postcard railway stations and the city of Carlisle and its castle and museum at the top of the line. Coaches operate heritage trips in summer to Hawes and Barnard Castle. In short, if you are looking for a choice and variety of holiday activities, this cottage has it all.

The accommodation has been renovated to a modern standard but still retains its charming, comfortable, country feel, with large flagstone floors adding character to this peaceful and functional cottage.

Entry is through the front door into a small vestibule, which opens into the lovely living room. The wood burner is the focus of attention in this room, which also features a two-seater sofa, two armchairs, a small TV and CD player. Views to the front are of the village pasture, bounded by dry stone walls. The living room leads to a ground floor twin bedroom, with views to the quaint village green, which is home to some charming red squirrels.

The kitchen looks over the rear yard and includes a breakfast table to seat up to four people, electric oven, induction hob, freestanding fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. An outbuilding situated in the rear yard serves as a drying room come boot room and contains a washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and sink.

Up the stairs to the first floor is the master bedroom, which features a king-size bed, plenty of storage and views over the village pasture. A family bathroom is next door, containing a walk-in shower, WC, basin and heated towel rails. The view is of the hills beyond.

Please note that the stairs at this property, like many period cottages, could be quite steep for guests with mobility issues. There is a handrail provided, however we do encourage guests with mobility issues to contact us before booking if they require any more information.

A lovely well equipped cottage in a lovely location, we stayed back in May and returned as so nice. There have been numerous comments left in guest book over the months with little action taken, this is all that is required to make the cottage perfect.

we had a very pleasant week at Coopers Cottage with our dog, private parking was no problem, could recommend the Kings Head and a trip to Barnard Castle for the Bowes Museum.
