Thornthwaite is a small village that is close - but not too close! - to the A66 and so benefits from great transport links. The property is tucked away at the edge of the village right at the foot of Whinlatter Forest, which stretches for miles and offers some great walking and off-road cycling. Braithwaite is just 2 miles away with a choice of pubs and a shop. Otherwise, carry on a little further and visit the vibrant town of Keswick with shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants galore plus numerous picturesque walks, beautiful Derwentwater and a couple of museums. Keswick is also home to the Theatre by the Lake offering a wide mix of shows and events throughout the year at a purpose-built theatre.
Should you feel the need to explore further afield, the Georgian market town of Cockermouth is just a 15-minute drive away with a good range of independent shops and eateries plus a couple of supermarkets and Wordsworth's childhood home. Explore Bassenthwaite Lake, one of the lesser known lakes and home to one of the pairs of Lake District ospreys, indulge yourself with a tour at the Lakes Distillery, or have an afternoon in the spa at Armathwaite. Beautiful Buttermere is just the other side of Newlands Pass and all the northern and western fells are yours for the walking. The Solway coast, Eden Valley, Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall country are also very accessible.
The property is a lovely combination of a comfortable and charming house in a quiet location which is still within easy reach of everything going on in the area.

Linking the upper part of the kitchen back through into the main living room is the cosy snug. Set up with 2 armchairs , a beanbag and a Smart TV (please note, this TV doesn't have Freeview channels) with a wii this is could be a living space just for the children or ideal if there are any differences in opinion over the tv remote! The large window looks out over the front garden making this a lovely bright room. There is a step down back into the main living room.
Head up the carpeted stairs and there is a long hallway right along the back of the house, it is the windows here that just give a glimpse of the Skiddaw group of fells through the trees. Right at the end of the hallway is the family bathroom with a shower over the bath and a towel rail over the radiator for snuggly warm towels regardless of whether you've enjoyed a quick blast in the shower or a long soak in the bath.
