Take a scenic drive along Ullswater to the ever popular Pooley Bridge; stop for a coffee or bite to eat in one of the cafes, pubs or restaurants before stocking up on souvenirs from one of the local gift shops. Just a 5-minute drive from the M6 and only 20 minutes from Keswick it really does make the perfect base for your Lake District adventure.
Full of charm, this 18th-century cottage has many characterful features including exposed low beams and wooden floors. The front door opens onto the sitting room, which is furnished with two comfortable sofas, a wood burner-effect electric fire, and a Smart TV, not to mention special touches such as the grandmother clock. There are also pleasant views from here over the green and the tranquil village: it's the perfect spot to curl up for a peaceful read or to just watch the world go by!
Just off from the sitting room is a small dining area, this leads to the French windows - so you have lots of light - and into the garden. The modern kitchen has a slate floor and is well equipped for self catering with an electric cooker, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and a large freestanding Smeg fridge with ice box.
From the living room you can head upstairs via open-tread carpeted stairs. There are two spacious bedrooms up here. The double has plenty of storage and double aspect windows looking over the village green - cushions on the window seat mean you can really enjoy the tranquil view. The single bedroom has a single bed, a desk and chair, for some quiet study and contemplation, if you fancy it! The modern bathroom is also on this floor and has a bath with shower over, heated towel rail, WC and wash basin. The traditional charm of this cottage is really apparent up here with lovely exposed low beams and low doorways - so mind your head!
Heading outside through those lovely French windows you will find a sheltered raised patio area with table and chairs and an arbour from where to enjoy the peace and quiet. An outside tap is also available for washing dirty boots and muddy paws.
