  • Recently refurbished period cottage overlooking the village green in delightful Stainton
  • Charming cottage for you and your four legged friend
  • Just 4 miles from popular Ullswater, on the edge of the Lake District National Park
Property code: SZ276

This charming cottage for three is located in Stainton, a characterful village close to Penrith and on the edge of the Lake District National Park. This welcoming two bedroom cottage provides cosy, homey accommodation perfect for a relaxing break.

With a great pub and restaurant, Stainton is a village popular with local residents and visitors alike. The Alpaca Clothing Company can be found on the edge of the village, less than a mile from the cottage, a wonderful clothing outlet that's well worth a visit - you won't come away empty handed! The award-winning Rheged Centre is a short drive away from Stainton and offers something for everyone; from shops, cafes, a 3D cinema and an excellent food hall, you'll find it hard to leave.

Stainton is a short drive from magnificent Ullswater, the second largest lake in the Lake District. Why not explore the Ullswater Valley from the water itself and take a ride on one of the majestic steamers that crosses the lake? Aira Force waterfall is a must visit and offers plenty of walks to suit varying abilities. Take a scenic drive along Ullswater to the ever popular Pooley Bridge; stop for a coffee or bite to eat in one of the cafes, pubs or restaurants before stocking up on souvenirs from one of the local gift shops. Just a 5-minute drive from the M6 and only 20 minutes from Keswick it really does make the perfect base for your Lake District adventure.

Full of charm, this 18th-century cottage has many characterful features including exposed low beams and wooden floors. The front door opens onto the sitting room, which is furnished with two comfortable sofas, a wood burner-effect electric fire, and a Smart TV, not to mention special touches such as the grandmother clock. There are also pleasant views from here over the green and the tranquil village: it's the perfect spot to curl up for a peaceful read or to just watch the world go by!

Just off from the sitting room is a small dining area, this leads to the French windows - so you have lots of light - and into the garden. The modern kitchen has a slate floor and is well equipped for self catering with an electric cooker, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and a large freestanding Smeg fridge with ice box.

From the living room you can head upstairs via open-tread carpeted stairs. There are two spacious bedrooms up here. The double has plenty of storage and double aspect windows looking over the village green - cushions on the window seat mean you can really enjoy the tranquil view. The single bedroom has a single bed, a desk and chair, for some quiet study and contemplation, if you fancy it! The modern bathroom is also on this floor and has a bath with shower over, heated towel rail, WC and wash basin. The traditional charm of this cottage is really apparent up here with lovely exposed low beams and low doorways - so mind your head!

Heading outside through those lovely French windows you will find a sheltered raised patio area with table and chairs and an arbour from where to enjoy the peace and quiet. An outside tap is also available for washing dirty boots and muddy paws.

Jesmond Cottage was an absolute delight. We were so pleased with it from arrival to departure. Really wish we could have stayed longer. The location is great, and it is really cosy and comfortable. If the local pub was also dog friendly, that would be the icing on the cake, but it wouldn't deter us staying at Jesmond Cottage again. Thank you for a Read morelovely stay. Hide

Jesmond cottage is a first class cottage. The place was clean, well supplied with equipment and nicely decorated. The only very minor thing was no tea towels. The village is quiet and everywhere was easy from the village. The local pub is good but beware opening times are limited.

Overall a nice experience and near to the Ullswater lake, and the pooley bridge town. This area of Stainton is nice and quiet, not much noise at all to be heard. To be able to see any views of the lakes you have to be willing to drive around a lot obviously, but you come back to quite a quiet and peaceful place.

A very cosy and comfortable cottage. Really well equipped, only thing we couldnt locate were eggcups. I found the low beams a challenge albeit there are plenty of warning signs which I managed to ignore on a couple of occasions. We tried the pub and the restaurant, both good. Would definitely return. Many thanks.

The cottage is cosy and comfortable and nicely situated by the village green. A small community shop next to the pub sells newspapers and essentials.

The cottage is very pretty and in a lovely setting with a very secure back garden, but the lane on which it is situated is surprisingly popular as a vehicle cut through, which makes exiting the cottage quite exciting!
