Property code: SZ443

This impressive holiday home is a light, spacious property sleeping eight people and ideally located just a short walk from Keswick town centre. The downstairs sitting and dining space is open plan and the bedrooms and bathrooms are all spacious and bright. All the bedrooms have views of the fells, whilst the kitchen is modern and well equipped. With two twins, one double and one king-size bedroom, the accommodation is flexible enough to suit an extended family, two families travelling together or a group of friends away for a break. At the back of the house, the pretty enclosed yard faces west and catches the evening sun; a lovely spot to relax after a day on the fells.

The property is perfectly positioned for you to take advantage of everything popular and vibrant market town of Keswick has to offer. Spend a day browsing the shops, enjoying afternoon tea in one of the many cafe, or taking an evening stroll on the shores of beautiful Derwentwater. For a more active day, there are many companies offering paddleboarding, canoeing, ghyll scrambling, rock climbing, mountain biking, orienteering and much more! There are a huge variety of walks to choose from ranging from gentle ambles to serious mountain hikes. If you get a wet day, check out The Puzzling Place, The Pencil Museum or the Keswick Museum, or scramble up an indoor climbing wall. Evening entertainment could include a film at the family-run cinema or a show at the Theatre by the Lake.

If you want to venture a little further afield, the whole of the northern Lake District is within easy reach. Regular buses run down the Borrowdale Valley, over the pass to Buttermere and along the A591 to Grasmere, Ambleside and Windermere. Alternatively, you can use the timetabled launch on Derwentwater to stop off for a walk around the lake or up beautiful Catbells. Whatever you like to do you are sure to find it within easy reach of the property.

With accommodation arranged over three floors plus an enclosed back yard there is plenty of room to spread out and make the most of your holiday. The rooms are all spacious and bright and the further up the house you go the better the views get with the second floor bedrooms having panoramic views over the rooftops of Keswick to the fells beyond.

From the pretty front garden the front door of this property opens into a front hallway with coat hooks and space for muddy boots. A second door leads straight into the main hallway with the stairs going up straight ahead.

To the right, a door takes you into the main living area with a wide archway through into the dining area. The cosy living area has two three-seat sofas and two chairs facing the fireplace and Freeview TV with DVD player. During the day the big bay window overlooking the front garden and street beyond lets the light flood in. In the evening close the blinds, turn on the lamps and light the wood-burner for a cosy evening in front of the fire. With its bay window, high ceiling, cornicing and ceiling rose this room retains its spacious period feel and is a lovely relaxing place to spend time with family and friends.

Through the wide archway a large solid wood dining table comfortably seats eight people for sociable family meals. The large window looks over the back yard whilst the huge map of the Lake District filling a whole wall can inspire you for walks and days out, a great quirky feature! The built in cupboard in the corner holds a selection of games for traditional family entertainment. The feature wood-burner in the fireplace is just for show but still gives the room character and charm.

The kitchen is handily located just off the dining room. Modern and bright with slate tiled floor and window overlooking the yard, the kitchen is well equipped and beautifully finished. With a fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, gas hob, electric oven, four slice toaster and, of course, a kettle, you can make yourself at home and do as much or as little cooking as you wish. There are plenty of cupboards full of kitchen equipment but also ample storage space for supplies. You'll love the Herdy mugs, just right for a cuppa or two.

Up the carpeted stairs and off the first half landing is the main family bathroom. A beautiful room for having some relaxing time out in the freestanding bath, there is also a separate shower if that is your preference. The basin is in a vanity unit with mirror over in this white and bright room.

Continuing up a few more stairs to the main first floor, you'll find a twin bedroom on the right. A chest of drawers and hooks on the wall provide storage and the two beds share a bedside table and lamp. The window looks out to the back of the house with a view to Latrigg to tempt you out for a morning walk.

At the front of the house is an en-suite bedroom with king-size bed. A large spacious room with a big window looking out to the front over the street towards Walla Crag and Castle Head this room is flooded with light. A wardrobe and chest of drawers provide storage and there are two bedside tables with lamps and a useful full-length mirror. This is a lovely room and you may decide to indulge in a lie in or two just to make the most of it! The en-suite shower room adds to the appeal of this room and has a heated towel rail for lovely cosy towels.

Go upstairs to the second floor via a half landing with a window looking out over Latrigg and the Whinlatter fells to find the remaining two bedrooms. The extra effort in climbing the stairs is well rewarded by the beautiful views from both bedrooms. At the back of the house is a double room with skylight and side window whilst the front twin bedroom has windows at the side and to the front. Both rooms have built in cupboards with storage pockets and hanging rail plus bedside tables with lamps. They also share a shower room with rain head shower and heated towel radiator. The views are stunning: from the double bedroom Latrigg and Skiddaw can be seen through the skylight whilst the side window has the north-western fells arrayed over the rooftops of Keswick. The twin bedroom shares the view at the side whilst out of the front window is Walla Crag and Castle Head, an amazing place to see some beautiful sunsets.

Head back downstairs and into the kitchen to find the back door out into the yard. Step outside and enjoy the privacy of this little walled garden with flower beds and window boxes. Facing west it gets the sun in the second part of the day, so take a seat at the table and unwind with a glass or two of something chilled. There is a garage which houses a washing machine and is also ideal for bike/outdoor equipment storage.

This is the second time our family of 8 adults have stayed at this property and it is always clean and welcoming with ample space to accommodate us all :). It is in a convenient location close to town & the park. We had the addition of a baby this year & the double bedroom with en suite was ideal. Perfect house for a group of friends or large family. Very clean and well equipped. The location allowed the teenagers to walk into and out of town as they pleased and the large lounge and dining table provide space for work and games. Good for dog, with small yard and short walk into Fitz Park. I highly recommend the house for a stay in Keswick.

Three couples on a mini break for my husband's 60th Birthday, Skimming Stones was perfect! We parked easily in the street, the house was very clean, spacious and comfortable with everything we needed and we were each able to have our own bathroom. Just minutes away from the centre of town we absolutely loved Keswick. We would recommend 'The Square Read moreOrange' tapas restaurant. We also loved the Latrigg walk, its spectacular views over Keswick and beyond Hide
