This impressive holiday home is a spacious town house sleeping six people in three bedrooms. Located in a quiet back street yet within a short walk of the centre of Keswick, the property has an enviable location for exploring this beautiful and vibrant area. Keswick has a good range of independent shops that are ideal for a browse. When you need a break there are plenty of cafes and pubs for refreshment. Lovely Derwentwater is a pleasant stroll away; enjoy a lakeshore walk, take a boat trip across the lake, or just sit and enjoy the stunning views. Keen walkers of all abilities will be spoilt for choice with fell walks ranging from little (but steep!) Walla Crag with its amazing bird's eye view of the lake to Skiddaw, one of only four fells in the Lake District over 3,000ft. With museums, galleries, a family-run cinema, and the renowned Theatre by the Lake, there is plenty to do on a less energetic day too.
Mountain bike enthusiasts can pit themselves against the purpose-built trails at Whinlatter Forest whilst families can explore the play trail and see if they can find The Gruffalo. Park at Dodd Wood (or get the bus!) and visit historic Mirehouse to discover the house and gardens or head up to the Osprey viewpoint and spot some wildlife. For a change of scene, the attractive market towns of Cockermouth and Penrith are a short drive away, or follow Wordsworth south to his former home at Dove Cottage in Grasmere. Having easy access to the A66 and A591 means nowhere is too far away; head north to Carlisle and wild Hadrian’s Wall country, west to the Solway Coast AONB with miles of empty beaches to blow away the cobwebs, or relax in the spa at Armathwaite Hall. Whatever interests you have, you are sure to find an activity to suit you.
From the small enclosed front garden, the front door of the property leads into a porch with hooks for coats and room for boots. A further door takes you through into the hallway, the stairs head up straight ahead and to the left of the stairs is the dining area. The solid wood dining table seats six and the window looks over the backyard.
An open archway connects the dining area with the comfortable and cosy living area at the front of the house where a big bay window lets in lots of light. Two sofas, a three-seater and a two-seater, plus two chairs are grouped around the rug in front of the wood burner for lazy evenings in by the fire. The Smart TV with sound bar speaker will provide additional entertainment for cosy evenings in. There is even a SNES classic video games console (remember to bring your own games!) to keep children of all ages entertained, and for those after something more traditional, there's also a selection of board games to choose from.
The kitchen is at the back of the house off the dining room. Beautifully designed and finished, this smart modern kitchen contains everything you need. With a practical tiled floor, full-height fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, four-slice toaster, eye-level double oven/ grill plus a smart four-ring electric hob with extractor hood and tiled splashback it will be no hardship doing a bit of cooking in this bright room.
At the far end of the kitchen sliding doors open up into a handy utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer plus ironing board for all your laundry needs.
Upstairs off the first half landing is a separate toilet with basin off to the left, while straight ahead is a family bathroom with bath and separate shower. Spacious, bright and fully tiled with a heated towel radiator this is a lovely bathroom, perfect for a relaxing soak in the bath after a busy day. But in this cottage, it is eclipsed by the bathroom off the main first-floor landing and may not get a look in! Up a few more steps, this beautifully finished contemporary bathroom has a walk-in shower and fantastic free-standing feature bath. You could be forgiven for thinking you are in a plush spa hotel as you make the most of this beautiful room with tiled floor, heated towel radiator and twin sinks side by side on a vanity unit.
Also off this landing, to the front of the house, is a spacious master bedroom with super-king bed. The window looks over the street and there is space in here to relax in peace on a three-seater sofa too. Storage is provided in a wardrobe and separate chest of drawers.
Continuing up to the second floor with a pause to enjoy the view of Latrigg and Blencathra from the window on the half landing you will find two further bedrooms, both with sloping ceilings and lovely views. At the front is a twin with a dormer window offering panoramic views over the rooftops of the fells from Dodd all the way round past Grizedale Pike and Catbells to Walla Crag. Both beds have a bedside table and there is a chest of drawers and hanging rail. The bedroom at the back of the cottage is a cosy double, with a dormer window giving you a lovely view of Blencathra and Latrigg. There is a wardrobe with drawers beneath and a shelf for storage.
A door off the kitchen leads into the back yard. Fully enclosed with a gate onto the back lane, this pleasant little yard enjoys the morning sun and is a lovely spot to sit on the bench with a cup of tea. There is also a handy shed which can be made available for you and is a great space for storing bikes.
