Braithwaite is a popular village blessed by being at the foot of the Newlands Valley, on the edge of Whinlatter Forest Park and close to the shores of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake. There's a wealth of walking right from the door whether it's soaring mountain peaks or gentle riverside strolls that interest you. The village itself boasts two pubs and two restaurants serving good food and local real ales. There's also a much-loved shop that is a hub for village life just a short stroll away. Whinlatter Forest is an absolute must for visitors with miles of cycling and walking tracks, an excellent cafe, imaginative playpark and a high ropes course where you can test your adventurous side high up in the forest canopy.
For a taste of local town life then Keswick lies just 2 miles away. It's a bustling market town with independent shops, good pubs, restaurants and cafes. Keswick has its own cinema and the gorgeous Theatre by the Lake not to mention a huge choice of outdoor shops and adventure companies ready to take you out and test your wilder side! Why not explore beautiful Derwentwater either by stately launch or under your own steam in a kayak or rowing boat? Braithwaite really does make the perfect place to launch your adventures or just enjoy what's on the doorstep.
On arrival at the house guests enter via the front door into the hallway. There are coat hooks and an under-stairs cupboard with plenty of space for your outdoor bits and bobs. To the right of the hall is the comfortable and welcoming living room. With a soft brown leather sofa and large snuggler chair arranged around an open fire and Smart TV with Freeview and decorated with a warm palette of colours, it makes a lovely place to relax after your Lakeland adventures. There's a lovely view from the two front windows out onto the stream passing below and a built-in cupboard with plenty of games to keep you entertained.
At the back of the house is the lovely modern kitchen/diner. Refurbished to a high standard with modern units, a built-in fan oven, gas hobs, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and all the crockery and cookware you will need for your stay. There's a dining table for four with a dresser and books for keeping you occupied and a neat little hatch for calling through to the living room. There's also a back porch off the kitchen with more room for muddy boots.
Moving upstairs to the first floor, the master bedroom has a romantic metal king-size bed frame, built-in wardrobes, a chest of drawers and two windows looking out on the stream and woodland opposite the house. The twin room has charming metal bedsteads, a wooden wardrobe and chest of drawers and a view to the rear of the house where you can see the ridge of Barrow ascending from the village to give you inspiration for your days. Lastly to the light spacious bathroom which has a modern suite with 'd' shaped bath with shower over the bath which has a drencher head. Perfect for soaking away aching muscles.
Outside the house there is a narrow back yard with a bistro table and four chairs for enjoying a morning cuppa or an evening glass of wine whilst listening to the nearby stream.
