The cottage is located in the tiny village of Haverthwaite, in one of the quieter areas of Cumbria just within the Lake District National Park. It has excellent transport routes from the M6 motorway and is only seven miles from the vibrant market town of Ulverston. The foot of Windermere, one of the region's best known and most visited lakes is less than five miles from the property, and the River Leven which flows out of the lake passes through the village on its journey to Morecambe Bay. Cumbria's foodie capital, Cartmel, with its picturesque Priory in the village centre, is just a 20-minute drive away, and the whole area is known for its fresh produce and excellent choice of eateries.
Exploring the Lake District National Park and the Furness Penninsula couldn't be easier from this property, and there is so much on offer for those yearning to walk or explore the great outdoors. Cycling and watersports opportunities abound, and there are plenty of chances to spot the local wildlife for those wishing to do so. This is one of three attractive slate-built Lakeland cottages in a terrace and is surrounded by pretty gardens. Parking for one car is available directly outside the gate, and a few steps lead down into a lovely courtyard garden. Flower borders and planters make this property even more welcoming, and the bistro garden dining set offers a gorgeous place to sit and enjoy a meal or glass of wine on a summer's evening.
The front door opens into the main open-plan living area, a kitchen/diner and living room all flow nicely into one another. Although modest in size there is a lovely wooden dining table and a good sized kitchen, refurbished and finished to a high specification. Here you will find everything you require when cooking for a family. There is a dishwasher, washing machine, fan over, electric hobs, and a microwave to make your holiday as stress-free as possible. The owners have also thoughtfully stocked the property with plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils, including lovely Denby pottery and ample glassware.
Through in the living room area, two comfortable leather sofas are positioned around a wood burner, with an initial supply of fuel to get your first fire going. A flatscreen TV, DVD player and Free Sat box are available, along with a collection of DVDs. A large rug provides warmth to the laminate floor, and french doors opening onto the courtyard garden fill the room with plenty of light.
The decor throughout the cottage is very simple, fresh and bright, with quality, stylish, furnishings to create a homely and welcoming feel.
Opposite the front door is the staircase taking you up to the first floor. Charming Lake District prints add interest to the walls and a bright landing leads you to the sleeping accommodation. Both the double bedroom and the twin bedroom overlook the front garden and the cluster of pretty Lakeland properties situated beyond the parking area. Both are beautifully presented with tasteful decor and cheerful fabrics. The twin, although only modest in size, comfortably accommodates two single beds, each with a bedside shelf and lamp. Please note that there is only under bed storage in the twin room, but the double next door offers plenty with a full wall of built-in wardrobe space and a dressing table.
The bathroom is a good size with a shower over the bath. A skylight window floods the room with light, even on the dullest of days. Again, very recently refurbished, the bathroom is immaculately presented throughout.
There is also a bookshelf on the landing offering a choice of literature and games for guests to enjoy.
