Braithwaite is a delightful village at the foot of the Newlands Valley, on the edge of Whinlatter Forest Park and close to the shores of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake. It is perfectly situated for making the most of the fell walking in the area; indeed, you can walk up Barrow, Causey Pike or Grisedale Pike straight from the cottage. There is also a wealth of easier strolling to be had. The village itself boasts three pubs and a restaurant serving good food and local real ales. In fact, guests at the property have a pub right next door and another just a few metres further. There's also a much-loved shop that is a hub for village life just a short stroll away. Whinlatter Forest is an absolute must for visitors with miles of cycling and walking tracks, an excellent cafe, imaginative playpark and a Go Ape high ropes course where you can test your mettle on a series of exhilarating obstacles high up in the forest canopy.
For a taste of local town life then Keswick lies just 2 miles away. It's a bustling market town with independent shops, good pubs, restaurants and cafes. Keswick has its own cinema and the gorgeous Theatre by the Lake not to mention a huge choice of outdoor shops and adventure companies ready to take you out and test your wilder side! Why not explore beautiful Derwentwater either by stately launch or under your own steam in a kayak or rowing boat? Braithwaite really does make the perfect place to launch your adventures or just enjoy what's on the doorstep.
Guests enter at the rear of the property straight into a gorgeous stone-floored kitchen diner. It has been refurbished to a very high standard with modern white units, a fan oven, gas hobs, built-in fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is an extending dining table in here to make the most of your evening get-togethers.
Moving through to the lounge where guests will find a sumptuously deep sofa and armchair and two further mid-century-style armchairs in which to curl up around the lovely wood burner on chilly evenings. There is a large Smart TV to help you while away the evenings too.
Upstairs to the three bedrooms and bathroom, all of which benefit from subtle decor and wonderful traditional features such as exposed beams and decorative fireplaces. Firstly, the master bedroom has a heavy wooden double bedstead and wardrobe as well as a view out over Braithwaite to fell tops in the distance. The second double has a chest of drawers for storage, a decorative fireplace and yet more great views. The twin room like the others has a gorgeous calming colour scheme and a wardrobe for storage.
The bathroom is a lovely indulgent space with a velux window bringing light into the lovey modern suite with its spa bath, over-bath mixer shower and huge drencher head.
