This cottage is a characterful gem of a house sleeping up to eight people in the heart of Keswick. While being in a popular residential area within a stone's throw of all the town's amenities it nonetheless boasts four spacious bedrooms with flexible accommodation a charming and spacious garden, designated parking and stunning views of the fells that surround the town. A gorgeous slate Victorian end of terrace house with generously proportioned rooms and plenty of socialising space it really is an ideal place for a large family or group of friends to make the most of this glorious area. The owners have used light airy decor, local photography and colourful wall art making the most of some wonderful traditional features to create a warm and welcoming space.

Keswick's position, nestled on the shore of picturesque Derwentwater, is absolutely glorious. The choice of fell walks from the door is marvellous with everything from mighty Skiddaw, England's fourth highest mountain, to lower level fells such as Walla Crag and Latrigg all walkable from the door. Alternatively, guests can take the gentle potter down to the lake shore and perhaps catch one of Keswick's lovely launches which wind their way around the lake. Why not walk along the lake into the jaws of beautiful Borrowdale, have a delicious lunch at one of the hotels or cafes then catch the launch back to Keswick? How very civilised. At this cottage you are perfectly placed to enjoy the town's cultural delights with a theatre, cinema and two museums all within easy walking distance.

Keswick is also well known as the adventure capital of the Lake District. Every possible outdoor activity is catered for here from rock climbing to ghyll scrambling, via ferrata to paddle boarding. There's a wealth of outdoor companies to guide your adventures, as well as two marinas and indoor climbing walls. The cycling in the area is second to none with a fantastic choice of off-road adventures to be had for the mountain bikers among you and some of the most iconic road cycling in the country. Families are well catered for with a leisure pool with huge slide, an excellent playground and lots of activities nearby such as The Lake District Wild Animal Park and Whinlatter Forest Park. In all for a group of friends or a family gathering then you could scarcely be better placed than at this retreat.

On arrival at the property guests are greeted by a porch with seat to remove any muddy footwear before heading through to the main hall. This has a traditional Victorian tiled floor with a gorgeous church pew and bags of hanging space for all your party's coats.

Firstly to the main living room. This is a lovely space with some quirky flair thanks to a large offset bay window in which sits the most gorgeous red armchair for watching the world go by or curling up with a good book. There are two deep leather sofas, lovely local photography, a gas-effect fire and a TV with Freeview and BluRay player. Onward to the back of the house to the large open-plan kitchen diner and second living space. This extra living area is cosy and welcoming with seating arranged around a lovely wood burner. Next to this is the large dining table around which you can have long post-dinner chats planning your North Lakes adventures. The kitchen area is well equipped with a Smeg double electric oven with gas hobs, a microwave, dishwasher and all the crockery and cutlery you'll need for your stay. There's a utility cupboard with a washing machine and dryer along with a lovely light back porch which houses a double garden seat shoe rack and glass double doors leading out to the garden.

The first floor of the house where you first encounter the fell views from the landing windows. There's a family bathroom here with an over-bath mixer shower and next door a further shower room with a mixer shower. The lovely master bedroom looks out to the front of the house and benefits from another one of those beautiful offset bay windows with an armchair for gazing out at the surroundings. There is a heavy wooden king-size bedstead, a wardrobe, chest of drawers, a decorative fireplace and a TV with built-in DVD.

The twin bedroom on this floor has full-size zip-and-link single beds which can be made into a super-king should you require, (please advise on booking) there's also a large wardrobe and chest of drawers.

Moving up to the second floor there is the second of the king-size rooms. This is another lovely large space with huge built-in wardrobes a decorative fireplace and views to Latrigg. The second floor twin room has smaller single beds which can be made up as a king-size should your party require (once Again please advise on booking). The room has a chest of drawers and hanging rails, a decorative fireplace and a lovely view over the rooftops to mighty Skiddaw.

Moving outside to the back garden guests will find a delightfully peaceful space despite being in the heart of the town. The side of the house has a raised path and rockery while the back has a lawn, mature plants, a gorgeous blossom tree and a charming summer house (containing outdoor furniture for use in the garden). A perfect place for a sunny evening meal enjoying the fell views.

Brilliant location. Parking great. Clean house great beds and linen. Would expect towels at price. Great house for two families but comfy area in kitchen not big enough for 8 adults. Sofas very low and not very squashy. Did not spoil joy of holiday as overall comfortable and well equipped.

Cottage is very homely and was perfect for all generations of family. Location is perfect for walks and town, but also quiet . At top of road is a lovely park called Fitz park and you can start your Threkfeld walk along old railway there . We parked in front of wrong gate at first outside side gate to house. But.when you turn left after red door goRead more to very end of road and large double wooden gates on left are where you park . Hide

Perfect cottage for our fist family vacation in the Lakes. The location was outstanding, easy walking to the launch, pubs, restaurants, local walks and grocery. Bedrooms and bathrooms are a generous size and everything was spotless. Overall a spacious and comfortable home for 8 adults for the week. We lucked out with gorgeous weather and spent a loRead moret of time in the back garden. Highly recommend this cottage and location. Hide

Lovely cottage right in the centre of Keswick. The cottage was lovely and warm despite of the very cold weather. Perhaps a role of kitchen roll could be provided in the kitchen but that is only a small thing. Parking very handy and good size. Cleanliness second to none thank you.
