Situated at the gateway to two of the Lake District's most beautiful and tranquil valleys is this cottage. Sleeping up to six people in three comfortable bedrooms, the cottage is in the heart of the bustling village of Gosforth and is perfectly placed to make the most of all the outdoor opportunities that the area has to offer. It has bags of character with countless period details revealing the personality of the building while benefiting from modern, comfortable furnishings and an elegant eye for decor throughout.
Gosforth is a delightful little village nestled between the mountains and the sea on the western fringe of the Lake District National Park. Boasting four pubs, a busy village shop, an excellent child-friendly restaurant and a great network of walks right from the door it's a vibrant little place which provides the perfect jumping off point for exploring this corner of Cumbria. The area's Norse and Roman heritage will delight history buffs with evidence of both ancient cultures evident in the countryside nearby. Families are well catered for with an excellent play park in the village as well as wonderful easy walks and gentle riverside strolls for puddle jumping welly walks. Muncaster Castle makes a great family day out just six miles away. It's a historic and according to legend 'haunted' gem set in stunning grounds with lots of events going on for visitors throughout the year.
The simply staggering valley of Wasdale is nearby, renowned for having England's highest mountain, deepest lake and smallest church. In a national poll it was also voted Britain's favourite view. Despite of all of these accolades it remains a wonderfully tranquil haven for walkers, cyclists, wild swimmers or anyone just wanting to sit and marvel at its magnificent scenery. Eskdale is another stunning valley with an atmosphere all of its own. Just 5 miles from Beck Place it also has a world of wonderful walking with high fells, forest ambles and even a Japanese Garden. The valley also boasts the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway; a magical narrow gauge steam engine which gently trundles up to the foot of the high fells at Boot from the delightful village of Ravenglass on the coast. Whether you'd like to spend your visit out in the fresh air or enjoying a pint of real ale by the roaring log fire of a local pub then this cottage makes a marvellous western Lake District base.
