Keswick is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts with its vast array of walks and cycle rides on the doorstep. Keswick is also the perfect place if you love to mess about on the water - the incredibly picturesque shores of Derwentwater are just a short stroll away. If adventure on the water is to your taste then why not hire a kayak or sailing dinghy from one of the marinas alternatively pack a picnic and take a jaunt in a romantic rowing boat to a secluded spot? The walking opportunities in this area are beyond compare. The Stables is fantastically placed for this as there are so many walks close by without ever having to get in the car, in fact if you’re feeling energetic you can walk up the mighty Skiddaw straight from the house.
The cottage is situated down a quiet road on the edge of Keswick itself so you are just a ten minute walk away from all that the town has to offer including a huge choice of outdoor shops, galleries, restaurants and cafes. The town also boasts its own art deco cinema and one of the most beautifully situated theatres anywhere in the country offering a varied programme of plays and music throughout the year. Whether you are craving an adventurous high energy holiday or an indulgent break in an elegant Lake District cottage, The Stables is an absolute treat.
On entry to the rear of the house you'll find a beautiful stone flagged hallway with plenty of room for coats and muddy boots after long Lakeland walks. There's also an under stair cupboard and a the utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer.
The beautifully decorated bedrooms are both on the ground floor and have delightfully subtle decor and art works by local artists, as well televisions in each with Freeview. The main bedroom has a double bed, beautiful built-in wardrobes and dressing table and an en-suite bathroom with over bath drencher shower. The second bedroom also boasts a double bed and built in wardrobe and dressing table. This room is just across the hallway from the main shower room with its large drencher shower and heated floor.
Out of the front door you'll find a lovely gated garden with a dining area and lockable shed for bikes and other outdoor equipment.
Onwards and upwards to the stunning open-plan kitchen and dining area. Here you'll find plenty of evidence of the building's history with its high ceiling, exposed aged beams and wooden floorboards. The modern kitchen has been thoughtfully designed to include everything you might need including gas hobs, electric double oven and plate warmer, and microwave with combi oven. It has a built in dishwasher and fridge/freezer nestled under the stunning Lakeland slate worktop and breakfast bar. For the caffeine fans among you you'll be delighted to find a Nespresso coffee machine (remember to bring some extra pods!). This room is a perfect place to cook and socialise with its substantial oak dining table and well-designed food preparation area, it really is a foodies' paradise. To top this off there are two lovely windows overlooking the front garden and a double sided wood burner which opens into the dining area and living room further through. An initial supply of logs will be provided. From the kitchen area you'll also find a small balcony and staircase leading out to the rear of the house and parking. benefiting from morning sun this is a perfect place to enjoy a sunny morning cuppa.
After you've put the world to rights over your evening meal why not adjourn to the luxurious living room, here you'll find two elegant leather sofas, a window seat, a large Smart television with Freeview and several other Apps including NetFlix. There is a Blu-ray DVD player with a selection of discs. Alternatively why not curl up under one of the sumptuous throws and delight in a good book after you day's exertions?
