If walking is of interest then there are a host of opportunities from the mighty peak of Skiddaw, England’s fourth highest mountain, to Sale Fell of which you have a beautiful view from the dining area of the apartment. If something gentler is to your taste you could enjoy a stately turn around the grounds of nearby Mirehouse, a beautiful historic house with literary connections whose gardens stretch from Dodd Wood to Bassenthwaite Lake. Bassenthwaite has become famous in recent years for their successful osprey programme. It has resulted in the first pair of wild ospreys to breed in the Lake District for over 150 years, you might be lucky enough to see one of these majestic birds while out and about around the apartment.
The property is situated almost equidistant between Keswick and Cockermouth, two of the Lake District’s loveliest towns. Keswick has so much to offer from museums and sight-seeing to adventure centres, festivals and theatre. The shores of Derwentwater lake are just five minutes walk from the centre of Keswick and you'll find a host of places to eat, drink and shop in the town. Cockermouth has a thriving art and folk music scene, excellent places to eat and drink and an array of independent shops. Wherever you go in Cockermouth, the community spirit is strong and the welcome is warm. In short the property is perfectly placed to enjoy all the delights of the northern Lake District.
This alluring holiday property is an apartment situated on the ground floor of a period house. You enter through the well-equipped kitchen which comprises an electric oven and grill, four ring hob, washing machine, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, kettle, undercounter fridge and undercounter freezer.
Just off the kitchen is a small twin bedroom. The beds are normal size but space is quite tight in this room. There is under bed storage and a few hooks for clothes. Please note there is no wardrobe or chest of drawers in this room.
The master bedroom has a king-size bed and wardrobe with drawers. Next to the bedroom is a shower room with enclosure, wash basin and WC.
The lounge, with high ceilings and Georgian style features, has wonderful views of Sale fell, comfortable seating, a woodburning stove, TV, DVD player and dining table which can seat four people. There is a selection of books, games and DVDs in the lounge for you to enjoy.
Outside, leading from the kitchen, is an enclosed patio area with seating where you can enjoy a glass of wine on a balmy summers evening.
The boiler room which houses the oil boiler can also be used as a drying room for wet weather gear if required.
