This sweet little cottage is situated next to the village church in the busy, vibrant village of Shap. With views of the open countryside, a spacious living room and light decor throughout, it boasts calming clean lines and a really lovely feel, just perfect for a couple or small family to have the perfect holiday!
Shap is a small village with lots to offer! The cottage is just a 5-minute walk from a couple of good pubs, tea rooms, shops, and even a heated open-air swimming pool (available between May and September)! For the walkers amongst you, you can take on part of Wainwright's Coast to Coast, or enjoy any of the vast array of fabulous routes in the surrounding area. Alternatively, why not visit Sleddale Hall (as seen in the cult film, Withnail and I), or take a trip to the impressive ruins of Shap Abbey?
Haweswater is your nearest lake, just 8 miles away, and provides access to many of the great Lake District peaks including High Street and Kidsty Pike, both of which can be seen from the cottage. The area around Haweswater is also home to an amazing amount of wildlife including deer, badgers and squirrels.
This cottage is one of those places that has a really lovely feel to it. The sitting room is warm and cosy with comfy seating, wood burner, TV with DVD player, and a lovely window seat. The dining table is also in this room, right next to the wood burner, so you can be sure of a cosy meal!
The kitchen is fully equipped with induction hob, electric double oven, microwave, dishwasher, under-counter fridge and storage space. A utility room houses an under-counter freezer and washing machine and also leads to a downstairs toilet.
From the kitchen, stairs lead upstairs to a landing that houses a traditional ceiling pulley clothes airer/dryer. From the hallway is a king-size bedroom (boasting views of Kidsty Pike and High Street), a twin bedroom, and a family bathroom with toilet, wash basin, and bath with hand rail and shower over.
From the back of the house are views over the garden towards open countryside. The raised garden is reached by slightly uneven steps ( with handrail) and is long, with a gravelled area, shrubs, picnic table and benches where you can enjoy a peaceful morning cuppa. For the train enthusiast, to the rear of the cottage is the West Coast main line, which occasionally plays host to vintage steam trains including the Flying Scotsman!
