It is only a 5-minute walk to the centre of Keswick which is a busy, vibrant, friendly town with plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants, as well as outdoor shops and other interesting independent shops. Derwentwater is a 10-minute walk from the Eskin Street and here you can hire rowing boats, take a trip on the launch or explore the paths around the lakeshore. The mountains surrounding Keswick are within easy reach – Catbells, the Coledale Horseshoe and Blencathra are all a great day’s walk, as well as Skiddaw and Latrigg.
On top of being known as the ‘Adventure Capital of England’, Keswick also hosts a variety of events and festivals – there is the Film Festival in February, Words by the Water in March, the Jazz festival in May and the Beer Festival in June to name but a few.
The hall has an original Victorian tiled floor with a small console table for storage of keys hats gloves and maps etc. There are plenty of coat hooks for coats and rucksacks.
The house is open plan downstairs. The lounge is comfortable with a large sofa and two wing backed chairs. There is a wood burner, TV and DVD player. The room is light with large windows that make the most of the natural light with the sun coming in through the lounge window in the morning and through the dining room window in the afternoon. The dining room has a gas stove and dimmer lighting suspended over the farmhouse table for atmospheric, relaxed dining. The kitchen is modern and well equipped. It is fitted with a Smeg oven and gas hob, microwave, integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is plenty of storage space. This room is tiled with underfloor heating.
Upstairs the first floor has a master bedroom with a king-size bed that looks out of the bay windows, benefiting from the morning sunshine. In the window are two chairs and a small table – perfect to enjoy a quiet moment.
There is a large modern bathroom with free-standing bath, shower unit, sink and toilet. A second bathroom has a traditional feel with a modern twist. This room also has a free standing bath, walk in shower, toilet and sink. There is also a cloakroom with a third toilet on this floor.
The second floor has two further bedrooms. The second bedroom is at the front of the house and has a super-king-size bed which can be separated to offer two single beds (please ask at time of booking if you would like two singles). This room has a comfy sofa, an oak chest of drawers and a free-standing mirror.
The third bedroom has a double bed and a hand painted chest of drawers. There is a large shared wardrobe on the landing.
Outside there is a slate flagged back yard with a wooden bench, a small table and folding chairs to enjoy an alfresco meal in the afternoon sun. At the front if the house there is a wooden bench and flagged area a good place to watch the world go by.
