Chic apartment in the heart of the Borrowdale Valley, with dramatic walks from your front door and numerous Lake District highlights within easy reach.

If you’re looking for some calm in an outstanding location, then this property is the place for you. The owner has an eye for detail and the whole place oozes character and comfort. Picture windows allow for uninterrupted views of the Borrowdale fells and you have some of the Lake District’s finest walks right on your doorstep, standing as it does between Catbells and Castle Crag. Follow the river through the woodlands, exploring the valley as you go; or strike out up Catbells, Maiden Moor and beyond; a hike up Scafell lies at the far end of the valley.

The village has two cafes and is within a 10-minute walking distance of two very good bars. Keswick with its shops, restaurants, cinema, theatre and lake is a 5-minute drive away.

From the moment you step into the cottage, the feel is of simple luxury. The stairs lead to a hallway from which you can access all the rooms.

The open-plan sitting room with kitchen and dining area command beautiful views across the Borrowdale valley. It's the small features that make the difference. There is a Smart TV with an Xbox that also plays DVDs. The bookshelf in the centre of the stacked logs with all the Wainwrights to browse through; the picture window that allows you to look down the Borrowdale valley without any frames getting in the way; the mix of slate and brick surrounding the fireplace where the wood burner stands, pride of place, complete with an initial supply of logs to get you started.

The kitchen is fully equipped with electric hob and oven, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave. A washing machine and tumble dryer is located at the bottom of the stairs in a small cupboard. This is a good place to dry muddy boots too.

There are two bedrooms, both beautifully furnished. The main room has a king-sized bed, the second room has zip-and-link beds which are usually made up as two singles. If you would like the beds to be zipped together, please let us know at least two weeks before you come to stay. There is one family bathroom with shower over the bath and a WC.

The property is above a cafe serving delicious cakes which has an outdoor seating area. The perfect place to soak up the last of the sun's rays when everyone else has gone home!

An extremely comfortable and homely apartment, a real home from home. Our second stay and definitely not our last! The apartment is excellent value for money and very well equipped. We were greeted with a beautifully lit Christmas tree and decorations which made it all the more welcoming after a long drive from Sussex.

This property is lovely. Everything is the highest standard and the location is perfect. We have now stayed here 2 years in a row which we never normally do!

Can't fault this lovely apartment, the owners really have thought of everything you might need for a holiday in the lakes (with its unpredictable weather!) Well stocked kitchen, plenty of hot water, warm places to dry damp clothes and walking boots, comfortable beds - I could go on! Grange is a great location - quiet and remote but with loads of waRead morelks from the front door, close enough to the lake for wild swimming and regular buses straight into Keswick. Can't imagine staying anywhere else now. Hide

Lovely apartment in a lovely village with walks in every direction, so no need to drive every day. We were above the village cafe, but didn't get any noise and it was nice to be able to nip down for a coffee and cake. I love Borrowdale and it was great to stay in such a beautiful part of the lakes

I have mixed feelings about posting a rave review. I dont want too many people to book this accommodation meaning I cant re-book it! Loved the apartment - beautifully decorated, lovely place to stay. Great location - walks literally from the doorstep, and coffee / brunch available just downstairs. No issues with cafe noise. Amazingly comfortable beRead mored and nothing but bird song and bleating lambs to be heard in the evenings. Loved it! Thank you to the owners for sharing this special place. Hide

It was our first visit to The Lakes and we found the property to be perfect for all our needs. It is situated ideally for exploring the area and the apartment was lovely to come back and relax in after a days walking. We will definitely be back!

An ideal place to stay, not only for its lovely accommodation, which is exactly as the description paints it to be, but for its position. Walks straight from the door in all directions and a bus stop two minutes away, to get you further afield, mean the car can have a break too.

I love this cottage/ flat above Grange tea rooms. I've stayed here few times now. It's always warm, cosy, comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. I like the convenience of the location & tea room, walks etc such a friendly village. I'll always come back here as I always relax as soon I step in the door and open the welcome bottle of wine.

A wonderful week in the Lakes in a very comfortable and cosy apartment. We loved coming back each day after a walk and lighting the wood burner! Ti was great wandering downstairs in the mornings for takeaway lattes and a sausage for the dog! We will definitely be coming back! Home from home.

We had the most wonderful week in the apartment in Grange. The location is absolutely perfect, as you could walk directly to beautiful countryside and we saw some red squirrels plus Roe deer along the way. Really enjoyed our stay. The location is lovely however being on the first floor above a cafe means there can be significant noise from downstairs if you have having a restful day in.

We have stayed here on a number of occasions, it is in a great location for walks in the Borrowdale Valley and around Derwentwater. The accommodation is clean and well furnished with a lot of character. Although it is above a cafe this does not detract from the enjoyment of staying here, in fact it can be too handy - for coffees and snacks !!! We dRead moreid have an issue with the radiators not working in the main room but this was fixed on the day it was reported which was much appreciated. Hide
