This beautiful holiday home is a traditional Lakeland cottage dating back to the 1600s. It is full of charming original character including a cast iron range, wooden beams, a dresser with a date inscription and original floorboards as well as the original low doors and stairs. The cottage has three bedrooms to sleep five people and has two bathrooms. There is a separate sitting room with an open fire and a dining room with woodburning stove.

Eskdale is a tranquil valley that is relatively untouched by modern development. The valley has a peaceful air and beautiful scenery as far as the eye can see. One of the best ways to see the valley is by the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway known affectionately as La'al Ratty. The railway operates between Dalegarth at Boot and Ravenglass on the coast. The 7 mile route passes through some of the most beautiful scenery in the valley and has several stops for you to hop off and enjoy a walk.

There are five pubs in the valley all of which are family friendly and serve good menus and local ales. Eskdale is the perfect location for a peaceful Lake District holiday with walks for all abilities.

The front door leads into a characterful tiled and beamed hallway. The property dates from the 1600s and has many original features. Off the hallway is a sitting room with an original dresser. There is a functional cast iron range for a cosy open fire. Further characterful features include beams and a window seat. There is comfortable seating, a TV plus games, jigsaws and books.

There is a separate dining room with a large pine dining table and chairs, wood burner and large antique chest.

The kitchen has a Belfast sink, fan assisted electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, and traditional walk in larder. Off the kitchen there is a conservatory that houses the washing machine. The conservatory room has rattan furniture and is lovely for sitting and watching the birds feeding in the garden.

There is a ground floor bathroom with a free standing bath, wash basin and electric towel rail.

Stairs from the hallway lead to the first floor bedrooms. The master bedroom features a four poster double bed, sofa, feature fireplace (not in use), original wooden floors and antique wardrobes. There is a further double bedroom and a single bedroom.

On this floor there is a shower room with a corner shower, WC, heated towel rail and a wash basin.

Outside there is a lovely secluded cottage garden with lawns and shrubs on various levels. There is a sheltered patio area with table, chairs. At the end of the garden is a wooden shed utilised as a children's den/playroom and is well equipped with toys. The gravelled parking area for up to three cars is to the front of the cottage.

This is the quintessential lake district cottage - cosy, quiet, and supremely located for endless walks straight from the door. It is also low-ceilinged and a little ramshackle, but these qualities also make it a special experience. The garden and children's den is a bonus. We loved staying at Yattus.

Full of character, location good for walking from the cottage. Clean, comfortable beds. We liked to sit in the conservatory watching the bird life in the garden. Lovely to be able to have an open fire in the evenings.

My daughter and I really loved the quirkiness of the cottage plus the different areas of the garden. Location is fab. Most essentials are provided. Unfortunately the cottage was not dusted well (bedroom, bathroom). It would of been easier to have had smaller logs. No kindling, matches etc were provided. Bath was not usable as hot water ran out veryRead more quickly. Dirty cookware. Parking tight if 4x4, needed daughter to guide me out of driveway. Pub and shop walking distance. O2 network didn't work. Hide

Yattus is a very old cottage and full of character. Tall people, like me, definitely need to take care when passing through some doorways as they are very low, but that was part of the charm. The cottage was comfortable and very well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, especially as the weather was so good.

Lovely Cottage in a great location of the Lake District. Unique experience to stay at such an old house with all the periodic features, but also all the modern comforts you could possibly need.
