Retreat to this converted stables building providing high quality self-catering accommodation for four people. Ideal for couples and friends, there are two spacious double bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms featuring bath tubs and separate shower cubicles. Many of the original features have been retained including high ceilings, exposed beams and items from the original tack room downstairs. There is a cosy wood burner for the colder months and the cottage welcomes two dogs. Guests are welcome to walk round Quarry Hill gardens and admire the grounds, or simply relax in their own private garden.

It is located on the fringe of the National Park just outside Boltongate close to Bassenthwaite and the Back o'Skiddaw fells. Its quiet rural location is ideal for a relaxing break with friends. All Saints Church in Boltongate is a Grade I-listed church that features in an architectural book by Pevsner. The Cumbria coastline and Solway Firth is within a short drive as is the Skiddaw range of fells. Just 15 minutes away Allonby has a beautiful sand and shingle beach and a famous ice cream parlour serving a wide variety of tempting treats. Silloth-on-Solway golf course is close by. The historic course attracts golfers from all over to play on the world class links course.

Nearby Cockermouth is a Georgian gem town with a long pleasant main street of independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. The town offers all the main services including a supermarket, local butchers and an excellent fishmonger.

The cottage kitchen has been converted from the ground floor tack room and has retained some original features. The kitchen is well equipped with an LPG range cooker with five rings, dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer, fridge with small freezer compartment, a boot rack and table and chairs for dining.

A stone stairway leads up to the sitting room and bedrooms. Please note this stairway is quite steep and has a solid wood banister. The sitting room has a feature window to the rear, wooden floors, wood burner (initial supply of fuel provided), TV (with Freeview and DVD Player) and comfortable seating.

The double bedrooms are full of character with original beams and wooden floors in both. The first bedroom has a dressing area open-plan to the bedroom and a large en-suite with freestanding bath, separate shower cubicle with rain head shower, WC, wash basin and heated towel rail.

The second bedroom is a spacious room with a large en-suite featuring a bath and separate shower, heated towel rail, WC and a wash basin. There is a separate WC and wash basin on the first floor.

To the rear is a private, partially enclosed garden with lawn and flowerbeds, accessed by a gate. Guests are also welcome to explore and walk their dogs in the substantial grounds with extended garden, woodlands, and ponds. The owner's tennis court is also available for use and if needed storage for bikes can be provided. A BBQ is also provided.

The cottage is inviting with everything that you need in very pleasant surroundings and near to local amenities. But it is NOT dog friendly as our dog was assaulted and then bitten twice. I would not recommend this property until the situation with the dogs has been resolved as their constant harassing and aggression was a great concern.

Lovely, cosy, peaceful cottage. It is ideal for recharging your batteries. Spotless and beautifully decorated. Great for visiting Keswick, Buttermere, Caldebeck, Cockermouth and the Solway Coast. The dogs loved it too. Nice grounds for them to explore.
