This stone built historic farmhouse packed with charming original features and beautifully designed to provide a homely, comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The house and surrounding office units are heated by a biomass boiler keeping everything lovely and cosy but with green credentials too.
Entering by the back door you are immediately welcomed into the large farmhouse kitchen. This is actually the most recent addition to the house but it complements the older section with exposed beams and a fireplace complete with electric wood burner. Double doors lead out onto the garden offering lovely views and letting in plenty of light for the six-seat dining table. The well-equipped kitchen boasts plenty of worktop and cupboard space as well as an electric range cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Tasteful tiled splashbacks and an oak floor complete the farmhouse feel and there is an armchair tucked in the corner beside the fireplace, perfect for relaxing with a morning cuppa - or maybe watching the nominated chef at work!
Out of the left side of the kitchen a traditional latch door leads into the main hallway with the stairs leading up to the left. The hall is divided from the living room by a beautiful old oak panelled wall full of character and oozing history - imagine the changes this wall has seen over the years.
The doorway into the living room is low so mind your head but once inside, this is a spacious but snug and relaxing room. The whole family can gather to relax with a choice of two-seater sofa, three-seater sofa and an armchair gathered round the coffee table and rug in front of the lovely slate fireplace. Light the wood burner and settle down for an evening in making lasting memories; borrow a book from the built-in shelves beside the fireplace, catch a movie on the wall-mounted Freeview TV or just watch the flames and chat. Dual aspect windows look over the gardens to the trees beyond and the room has been thoughtfully decorated, furnished and finished to compliment the old beams and the fireplace without compromising on comfort and luxury.
Across the hallway opposite the living room is a handy downstairs toilet – but watch the doorway, it’s another low one! At the end of the hall the front door leads out into a traditional Lakeland farmhouse porch with slate benches either side, a slate path with leads through the front garden past beautiful flower borders to steps up to the parking area.
Also off the hallway is a downstairs bedroom with king-size bed and a window looking out over the front garden to the tree lined driveway. This carpeted room has a chest of drawers and wardrobe for storage, bedside tables, full length mirror and a chair as well as a very smart en-suite. Light bright and fully tiled with a large walk-in shower and heated towel radiator, you will feel truly spoilt every morning.
Upstairs all the rooms lead off a large carpeted landing, the floors upstairs are showing their antiquity by all being a bit slopey so watch your step! On the right is the family bathroom, fully tiled with a shower over the bath and a heated towel radiator, there is a lovely view from the window over the garden to trees and fields beyond – it’s all fine, there are no neighbours to look in the other way!
The next room on the right is a cosy single room with a lovely window seat at the window overlooking the driveway. There is also a wardrobe, chair and bedside table.
Continuing anti-clockwise around the landing is another single bedroom with timber laths left exposed on the wall. This bright room also has a window seat overlooking the driveway plus a chair and two bedside tables.
Last but definitely not least over the kitchen is a large dual aspect king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room. The window at the back looks past traditional stone buildings to fields and trees beyond whilst at the front is a stunning view over the garden to woods, fields and distant low fells. The room is carpeted and has a chest of drawers and cupboard for storage plus bedside tables. The quirky but stylish en-suite is fully tiled with heated towel radiator, sink, WC and a sunken walk-in shower accessed down a step.
Outside the large garden wraps around two sides of the house with a large area of lawn, flower borders, mature shrubs and trees and a winding path to explore. Facing south west the main part of the garden gets plenty of sun and the multi-level patio areas are perfectly placed to take advantage of this. The higher level outside the kitchen has a BBQ and a bench for peaceful contemplation and the lower level has a seating area ideal for dining alfresco. Take a seat, take in the peace and quiet, breathe in the fresh Lakeland air and relax!
Adjacent to the back door there is a useful utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.
