This traditional country cottage is perfect for those who want to unwind in the peaceful scenic location of Cartmel Fell. Sleeping six in three comfortable bedrooms, it is an ideal property for a family or group of friends holidaying together. The cottage is set on a peaceful lane amidst a country garden with an orchard and with only an occasionally occupied converted barn next door, guaranteeing you a truly undisturbed retreat!

There is a lovely Rayburn in the kitchen to keep the cottage warm and cosy through the colder months. There is also a wood burner in the sitting room and electric heating throughout. The owners provide maps to the local area that you are welcome to borrow.

The property is detached and set amidst rolling countryside. The large garden is perfect for kids to run around and burn off excess energy. There are public footpaths across the fields to the nearby hamlet of Bowland Bridge where there are two good pubs. There are lovely country walks of varying difficulty straight from the door including Whitbarrow Scar and Gummers How, which has stunning views of Windermere.

The Winster Valley is lightly populated and benefits from pretty, peaceful lanes, open fields and views of the limestone cliff of Whitbarrow. Windermere is just a 15-minute drive away and the town of Bowness just another 5 minutes from there. In the surrounding area there is an aquarium at Newby Bridge and Beatrix Potter’s home at Far Sawrey. You can also visit the coastal peninsulas and the market town of Kendal.

Entrance into the house is by the side door. This leads directly into the outer kitchen, which features an integral fridge and separate integral freezer, microwave, dishwasher and freestanding two ring electric hob. This room is ideal for hanging wet coats and boots and for wet dogs to be towelled off. Off this room is the utility room with washing machine, ironing board, WC and wash basin.

The main kitchen is a spacious open plan area featuring a dining table, chairs and dresser. The focal point is the Rayburn cooker which also heats the hot water (there is a separate immersion heater if necessary). Please note that the Rayburn is the only cooker in the property.

A door leads into the sitting room which has comfortable seating around the wood burner, set into a character fire surround and with an initial supply of logs provided. There is also a storage heater for warmth. There is a modern flatscreen TV and DVD player, and a picture window looking out to the garden.

Stairs from the kitchen/diner lead upstairs to the first floor. Upstairs are the bedrooms; a bunk bedroom with adult-size bunks, a king-size bedroom with views to the fells and craggs and a twin bedroom. The windows all have child locks. The large bathroom has bath, WC, wash basin and heated towel rail. Please note there is no shower. Water is by private fell supply and this is tested regularly.

The lawned garden is ideal for children and dogs to play in. Please note the garden is not escape-proof especially for small and determined dogs. The house is set in a very tranquil area whilst being within easy walking distance to the local pub and shop.

A very homely cottage which on colder days is very cosy with the Range oven on. A little tired in places but we had a comfortable time here. Views are lovely and nice to see the cows straight out of the bathroom window.

We spent 3 weeks in Bridge house, and we really appreciated it. We felt at home at the minute we opened the door. The house is cosy, cleaned, welcomed, and with heart (sorry for our english). That is what we want when we go abroad, to touch the authentic. Adults, children and dogs, we leave it with regrets :). Peaceful location with comfortable lounge and bedrooms.. Cuckoo song in May a wonderful addition to breakfast.. Take care if walking the footpath to rhe pub - when they warn you it can be wet they mean it.

A lovely but quite remote cottage accessed via narrow, winding lanes. Reasonably well equipped and very cosy. Ideal for exploring the south of the Lakes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this pretty and rural cottage. It really felt like a home and we would have loved to have stayed for longer to explore the beautiful Lake District as well as enjoy the comforts or returning to such a lovely home each day.

Good quiet location; more remote than I anticipated. All facilities work, but the bath was a big issue for my elderly mother. A proper shower unit would be a major asset. Given the cost, the decor and fixtures are tired and in need of replacement.

Lovely cosy cottage In fabulous quiet location, close to some nice pubs and within easy driving distance of some great walks and attractions. Nice to have the utility room to come into with the dogs to get them sorted after a days walking and a great garden to sit out in in the evening, really enjoyed our stay there.
