Keswick is a jewel in the northern Lake District's crown situated on the shores of picturesque Derwentwater. It's a delightful market town boasting its own art deco cinema and beautifully situated theatre. The property could scarcely be better placed to enjoy all of this with plenty of eateries offering excellent local food, a vast range of outdoor shops and a wonderful choice of independent shops right on the doorstep. There's also a twice weekly market in the town adding to its charming atmosphere. Families are very well served in the town with indoor climbing walls, several parks, award winning museums and a leisure pool with huge slide all within easy walking distance.
Not only is the property deal if you want to make the most of the town but it's perfect for exploring the unparalleled natural surroundings. The town is well known for being the Lake District's adventure capital boasting a vast array of adrenaline-fuelled activities in the great outdoors for visitors to sample. If you're hoping to don your walking boots, then you could scarcely be better placed as there are numerous walks from the door including the Derwentwater Walk, Latrigg, Walla Crag or the ancient Castlerigg Stone Circle. Or should you be ready for a bigger adventure then Skiddaw, one of England's mountain giants, stands guard over the town. Alternatively hop on board one of the Keswick launches less than half a mile from the door to lap up the glorious scenery from the water. The bus stop is only 50 yards from the property so you needn't touch that car again should you feel the need explore the wider area!
On arrival, external steps from the ground floor lead to the covered porch and front door. The front door opens into the entrance hallway, off which you enter the kitchen and the large, light living room with dining space. This is a lovely open-plan room benefiting from a bay window which catches the sun all day and has views over Keswick high street to the fells beyond. There is an electric log-effect fire for extra warmth in the colder months and a feature surround. Seating is on a comfortable sofa and chairs around a curved screen TV with Freeview, DVD player and stereo. The owners have thoughtfully left board games, jigsaws and books to provide further entertainment. There is also a circular dining table and four chairs. The modern kitchen is well equipped with an electric fan oven and hob, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, toaster and dishwasher. There's also a glorious view of Latrigg from the kitchen sink.
Stairs lead to the second floor where there is a double and a twin bedroom and a bathroom. The double bedroom is a lovely space nestled into the eaves of the building with a wardrobe and chest of drawers. The lookout window has wonderful views to Newlands Valley and Grisedale Pike.
The twin bedroom is spacious and comfortably furnished. The zip-and-link bed can be made up as a king on request but will be left as a twin unless otherwise requested (please advise on booking if you would like this changed). This bedroom has superb views to the Skiddaw range and Latrigg. There is a sloping ceiling in one corner of the room. The modern bathroom has a walk in shower and a WC, wash basin and heated towel rail.
Outside there is private parking for one car.
