Discover a luxury Danish pine lodge situated in a lovely location between the pretty Lakeland villages of Yanwath and Tirril. The lodge is furnished to a high standard with all modern conveniences. Situated in an elevated position with a light and spacious open-plan living area, the lodge offers stunning views from the large picture windows across the countryside to the Pennines and Eden Valley.
Access is easy, the lodge being just just 3 miles from the M6 and it is a brilliant base for exploring the Lake District. Ullswater is 3 miles away with pebble beaches all along the lakeshore to discover. You can hire rowing boats, motor boats and canoes and explore the tiny islands that are dotted around the lake.
The Ullswater area offers some of the best walking in the Lake District with the mighty Helvellyn range to the west and the remote High Street fells to the east. There is a wealth of walks available, from big days out striding across the hilltops to shorter valley rambles. When it's time to unwind, its just over a mile to the local pub in nearby Tirril, which is renowned for its excellent food and delightful atmosphere.
This Scandinavian-built lodge has excellent green credentials and a low carbon footprint; the owners wish to encourage green tourism and are members of Nurture Eden which is part of Nurture Lakeland. The lodge is well insulated and electricity is provided by the National Trust Green Energy. The property also has solar panels and heat pump system installed.
It is entered by the front door into a lobby with boot and coat racks, which then leads into the main living area, which is light and spacious with a wood burner (fuel provided) and superb views across the countryside to the Pennines and Eden Valley. The lounge area has a huge L-shaped leather sofa, TV, DVD, video and stereo/radio, together with numerous books and board games. The dining area features a large bay window with a window seat.
The well-equipped kitchen has full-sized dishwasher, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and electric cooker with double oven with induction hob. There is a high-level drying rack for drying clothes.
The king-size bedroom has been extended and features a spacious layout with an en-suite with a large power shower and WC. Both the king-size and the twin bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and a smaller bedroom has bunk beds. The separate shower room also has a large power shower, WC and electric towel rail.
The lodge is surrounded by lawned gardens and hedges with a number of trees. There is access along the north-west side to one other property but other than that it is very private and has a lovely garden, landscaped with native species. A wonderful covered terrace, accessed directly from the living area, provides a great place for watching the birdlife over a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine. Please note that although the garden is mostly flat, it slopes away steeply to the north corner.
Although we accept that occasionally glasses and cups will get broken, any other breakages or damage must be notified to the owners or us as soon as they occur, so that repairs or replacements can be organised for future guests. All such breakages or damage caused by any member of your party must be paid for.
