This charming cottage is the perfect romantic bolthole for two with a beautiful country-style feel and a pretty courtyard garden.
Built of the local red sandstone and converted from a barn, this is an ideal holiday cottage for two people set in the lovely village of Langwathby. The cottage with accommodation all on the ground-floor level, provides a warm and welcoming environment whatever the time of the year. In winter, the wood burner and in the summer the delightful enclosed garden add to its charm.
Langwathby is in the beautiful and peaceful Eden Valley, within easy reach of the M6 and the town of Penrith. There are many walks and attractions in the immediate vicinity. The station is on the famous Settle to Carlisle railway making the cottage ideal for those who do not have their own transport. Unusually so for this day and age, the village retains a store and a post office both of which can be found just a short walk from the property. An inn is just 100 metres from the cottage. Edenhall village is very picturesque and only a mile from the cottage. Slightly further afield is the village bakery at Melmerby, with a lovely cafe serving organic products. Little Salkeld has another organic cafe at the working watermill.
The Eden Valley provides excellent walking and cycling and is only 8 miles from Ullswater in the Lake District and within easy reach of the Northern Pennines, Yorkshire Dales and the Scottish Borders. National Trust Property, Acorn Gardens is close by as is Lowther Castle with beautiful grounds and recently reopened 'lost gardens'. For those wishing for a more challenging environment the mighty peaks of High Street, Helvellyn and Blencathra are all within 25 minutes' drive.
The Settle to Carlisle railway line is fully open and offers a scenic route for passengers to enjoy.
The cottage is entered via the front door leading into the cosy lounge with wood burner in a feature fireplace, comfortable seating and French windows leading out into the enclosed garden. There is a TV, DVD, books, maps and board games for entertainment. The dining kitchen leads from the sitting room and is well equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave/grill, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, iron and ironing board.
