This cottage is a wonderful old mill building which has been converted and renovated to a very high standard. Situated on the banks of the River Irt, it is in the timeless hamlet of Santon Bridge, on the fringes of the Wasdale valley.

The renovated mill building and adjoining cottage have been transformed into one spacious property. The owners have carefully retained many characterful original features to provide sympathetic light and modern accommodation of the highest quality. The genorously sized sociable kitchen features bench seating, sumptuous sofas, a cosy wood burner and a stunning central kitchen island, topped with a local slate work surface. There is a large sitting room which offers a second a woodburning stove and a separate snug with a corner sofa, bean bags, and a flatscreen Smart TV.

Upstairs there are five beautifully furnished, spacious bedrooms. Ten people are accommodated in a selection of twin, double and a super-king-size bedroom. There is one en-suite and a further two luxurious bathrooms, one of which features a roll-top bath.

It is ideally situated to enjoy both Wasdale, Eskdale and surrounding areas. The pub is just a 100-metre stroll away from the cottage.

The accommodation at the cottage is spaciously arranged over two floors. Enter the cottage through the patio doors to a beautiful fitted kitchen compromising a central island and high stools, perfect for socialising whilst cooking. The kitchen is fully equipped with large electric oven and induction hob, dishwasher, microwave and an American-style fridge/freezer. There is a dining table and seating for ten people along with comfy sofas for relaxing around the large wood burner. There is a further set of patio doors leading to the rear garden which backs onto a stream, running into the nearby River Irt (please note that this is unfenced).

From the kitchen you enter the light and spacious lounge with TV and DVD player as well as a further woodburning stove and decorative traditional fire place.

Through the lounge there are two small steps up to the handy utility room which has a sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and additional WC.

Climbing the stairs to the first floor of the lounge side of the cottage, there is one double room, one twin bedroom and a good-sized shower room.

Back into the kitchen and through into the hallway, there is a door into the snug room which has a TV, corner sofa and bean bags, great for children and guests who just want to kick back and relax.

Stairs to the first floor on this side of the cottage also lead off this hallway. You reach a large landing to find the super-king-size bedroom which has an en-suite shower room with WC. On this floor there is a further double room and a twin room along with a family bathroom which has a walk-in shower enclosure, basin, WC and stunning roll-top bath, ideal for a long soak after a long day out on the fells.

Fantastic cottage with a wing for the grownups and one for the teens and young adults who stayed up very late! Perfectly designed communal spades- very comfy and plenty of space to be out of the way too. No major supermarket close by so for a week of Christmas we planned a click and collect but that was some distance on the windy roads. Oven was grRead moreeat size for large numbers and the 2 dogs made themselves very at home. Lovely space to have a family Christmas. Hide

Arrived in the pitch black with a baby to find the key safe is located on the side of the house with zero external lighting, meaning during a storm you are required to hold a phone light up and attempt to enter the 8 digit code into a hardware panel with stiff, tiny numbers. A lovely cottage suitable for two families, in a beautiful area near lots of good hill walking spots. It has good quality fittings and furniture, comfortable beds, and a well stocked kitchen (although, as in all rentals, take your own knife if you are a cook). There is plenty of room for all to relax with two TV areas. Spacious bathrooms. One King,Read more one Queen, one double, and two twin bedrooms. Definitely a special place to stay. Hide

Spent a lovely week here with family and 2 dogs celebrating a few birthdays. The cottage is spacious and had plenty of room choices for relaxing. Cooking was easy as everything you could need is provided. Having the bed rooms spread out on 2 different sides of the house worked really well for a large group. Plenty of hot water for showers, it was aRead more warm house and even logs provided for the log burner. The river is very close to the house and fast running so be careful with kids/pets. Hide

Very cosy and tidy. Bed rooms and mattresses we're great. Kitchen ist the main living room which ist good. The only minor thing was that the lacquer of the main table in the kitchen was sticky although the table surface was clean. We would certainly come back.

This is a lovely cottage, modern with good facilities. We were a family of 8, ranging from 88 yrs old to 27yrs old, and had a fabulous time. Set in a quite location with a nice pub 200 yards away. I would definitely recommend this cottage for anyone who loves the Lake District.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely part of the country. We loved the week we spent there. Cottage not the cleanest and needs a bit of maintenance, but if you can put up with these small things its a very comfortable cottage. We stayed when the weather was not the best and to have a log burner in the evening was just great.

We loved our week at Mill cottage. We were a party of 9 and 2 dogs and there was plenty of space and equipment for everyone ( apart from forks and wineglasses ) issue with the hot water but it was resolved super quickly Despite recent reviews around the houses condition we arrived to a spotless house and clean/ comfy beds and sofas.
