A traditional village cottage for five, situated in Portinscale, less than 300 metres from the shores of Derwentwater and the marina, with its opportunities for water sports and boat hire.

Situated in the lakeside village of Portinscale, the property is a welcoming holiday cottage for up to five people sleeping in three bedrooms. Refurbished by the owners to combine clean contemporary facilities with the lovely original features, Stable Cottage is a relaxing base for a self catering holiday.

Portinscale benefits from excellent lake access. Nicholl End and Derwent Marina offer excellent sailing facilities for all manner of boats, whether you launch your own or choose to hire one. You can also hop on the launch to sail across to Keswick or Lodore in Borrowdale.

Portinscale has a characterful local pub, The Farmer’s Arms and several hotels that welcome non residents. Keswick is a 15 minute leisurely stroll along a flat path, saving you the headache of parking.

There are several good walks straight from the door of Stable Cottage including the family favourite Catbells, Causey Pike, the Newlands Valley and the lovely round the lake trail.

The property is accessed through the stable door in the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric hob and oven, washing machine, microwave, undercounter fridge and freezer and a dishwasher. A separate door leads from the kitchen to the lounge which has a feature fireplace with a wood burner and comfortable seating, a flatscreen Smart TV and DVD player. The dining area has a table and chairs.

The stairway leads to the double bedroom, twin bedroom and single bedroom. The bathroom is on the landing along with the bedrooms. The bedrooms are comfortably furnished with tasteful free standing furniture. The bathroom has a bath with shower overhead, WC and wash basin.

Outside is a south facing sitting out area with garden furniture and private parking area for one car.

This is a pleasant cottage. Great location with walks from the door and more challenging walks within an easy drive. Keswick shops a 20 mins walk/5 mins drive. Lounge is very comfortable. Cottage central heating warms up quickly and the wood stove looks great. Kitchen has pretty much every thing you need to cook in. Bedroom furnishings are fine. WeRead more found the double bed very firm (and we're used to a firm bed at home) and single mattresses adequate but not great. Overall nice place! Hide

Clean and well located property. Nice quiet village and possible to walk to Keswick. Some minor improvements could make this a 5 star review. You might need to source your own firewood if you want to use the log burner stove. Watch out for steps to back door in the dark.

After an issue with a different booking Holiday Cottages were wonderful in helping us relocate to Stable Cottage and put in a lot of time to help us - thank you. We loved the cottage, so homely and cosy and warm. Felt like home. Ideal for Catbells walking and not far to drive to other lakes. We walked to Keswick several times and it was just under Read more10 in a taxi to get there on an evening. Great to have a parking space, some outside patio space and a log fire. A very comfortable cottage, well placed, a 20 minute walk across the fields from Keswick. It was well equipped and well presented.

Lovely place to stay. Clean and comfortable. Great location, close to Keswick but not in the more bustling town Good selection of games, books and DVDs - helped with young children when raining

A very clean comfortable cottage. Nicely furnished and in a wonderful village. The cottage, like many cottages, is fairly dark inside but also very cosy and easy to heat. Thanks.
