This imposing detached house provides comfortable home-from-home accommodation. Up to 18 guests can be accommodated across the nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms (five of which are en-suite) with plenty of space to enjoy each others’ company. There is also private parking for up to nine cars and guests often appreciate being able leave their car at the house for the duration of their stay, with lots of good walks allowing you to take in the fresh Lake District air available straight from the front door.
Named for the copse immediately behind it, the house stands in a residential area on the edge of town close to cycle ways and footpaths leading to the river Greta and up onto the fells. Keswick, with its selection of good pubs, restaurants and cafes is only a 10-minute stroll away. The best of both worlds. Incidentally, the copse is open to all, proving a great place for kids to make dens – and you can get in straight from the garden!
As you step inside you'll see that there's something to suit all: you can all be together round the magnificent dining table, lounging in the orangery; or gather in the large lounge in front of the wood burning stove. If you prefer to be outside you can relax in the garden between 8am and 10pm; fire up the bbq or retreat to the comfort of the wood fired hot tub.
You’ll enter the property through the front door and step in the spacious front hallway. On your left is an impressive dining room with a table to seat 18. While on the right is the large lounge with Smart TV, DVD, wood burning stove and great views towards the Keswick fells from the window seat. Also downstairs is the ground floor bedroom with twin beds, and a useful wet room, suitable for all including those with limited mobility.
At the rear of the property is the stunning orangery which has a breakfast table and seating area, with the open-plan kitchen and breakfast bar adjacent to the orangery's settees; it's a sociable space for everyone to enjoy. The kitchen is well equipped with a double oven gas Aga, two fridges, dishwasher, microwave, electric hob and plenty of storage space. Off from the kitchen there is a utility room which has more storage space and houses a boot drier, drying rack, washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and freezer.
Upstairs there are six bedrooms on the first floor. There are four en-suite doubles (with showers) and a further double with a balcony. There is also an en-suite twin bedroom. On the first floor is a family bathroom with shower above the bath and WC.
Stairs lead to the attic family suite - please note the limited headroom and stonework in here under the eaves. There is a twin room that leads through to a second twin room and a shower, sink and WC between the two. The attic stairs are rather steep, so may not be suitable for very young children or those less-abled.
Hazelwood stands in approximately half an acre of grounds. Outside of the orangery there is a great patio with BBQ, making this a great spot for some al-fresco dining. Next to this is an enclosed children’s play area with swings and slides. Due to the residential location of the property the outside dining area, play area and hot tub are only available for use between 8am and 10pm. Alongside the spacious car park is a secure area suitable for storing up to eight bicycles and a washdown point for muddy bikes, boots and dogs. At the front of the house the woodfired hot tub sits on a landscaped gardens; comprising a sunken lawn; an additional small lawn area, herbaceous borders and an area of tall shrubs. Garden furniture is provided.
