With uninterrupted views of the Wasdale fells, this impressive holiday home offers self-catering accommodation in a stunning location which is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either on the high fells or along the banks of the River that flows past the pub at Santon Bridge. Scafell Pike is a short distance away at the end of the Wasdale Valley.

The Santon Bridge Inn is just a 10-minute walk away and hosts the International 'Greatest Liar' competition towards the end of the year. It also serves good food and fine ale. Wasdale (10 mins drive) also boasts England's deepest lake (Wastwater), highest mountain (Scafell) and smallest church (St Olaf's).

Eskdale is another lovely valley, only 10 minutes drive away, with hundreds of river and mountain walks. Muncaster Castle, Gardens and Owl Centre is also 15 minutes away and has lots going on all year round.

The front door leads to the beamed sitting room with a Victorian cast iron fire place and TV with built in DVD player.

From the sitting room is the beamed kitchen, which has seating for six and is fully equipped with an electric cooker, fridge with freezer compartment and microwave. The kitchen door leads to the downstairs WC and wash basin and then out to the garden.

The stairs lead from the kitchen to the double bedroom with window and views to the front of the property. On this floor is also a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The small twin bedroom leads off from the first floor landing area.

At the back of the cottage is a lovely enclosed garden entered via a small gateway opposite the back door across a cobbled rear access. In the garden is a sitting out area that has fantastic views of the Lakeland fells including Scafell Pike and Great Gable.

A really lovely stay in a very cosy little cottage with comfy beds (always a good thing!). The little garden was pretty and had stunning views. An excellent base to explore the Esk Valley and the wide beaches nearby. A swim in nearby Wastwater made this a truly memorable holiday.

Easy booking process and a great cottage. Clean and well equipped. A good base for access to Wast Water and Ennerdale. If you do your research there are other local walks and the coast is around 20 minutes by car. Recommended.

Traditional homely cottage with beautiful features Great location with stunning scenery with easy access to many different areas. Shower good, all kitchen utensils to hand and comfy sofas. Although garden access is via cobbled thoroughfare this was not troublesome at all and was quaint with potted plants and the view from end of garden was superb.
