This renovated barn conversion sleeps six people. The cottage has been sympathetically modernised to include contemporary features such as chrome radiators, large patio doors and a wood burner. It provides a lovely light and airy property with open plan beamed living space and a contemporary kitchen area. There are large french windows out to a patio seating area and a south-east facing garden - ideal for breakfast on a sunny summer's morning or a glass of wine in the evening.
The cottage is situated on a quiet lane nearby to the village of Haile; holiday cottages in this area are about 15 minutes' drive from the Ennerdale Valley (one of the most picturesque parts of the Lake District).
The tranquil, unspoiled valley of Ennerdale is an ideal starting point for hundreds of Lake District walks - from gentle lakeside strolls to energetic mountain hikes (the views of Ennerdale and Buttermere lakes from the high fells are a stunning reward); rock climbing (a good base from which to approach Pillar); mountain biking in Ennerdale forest and fishing in the lake (permit required); pony trekking and go-karting (available nearby).
The nearest town is Egremont (2 miles) where there are shops and garage facilities. The historical west coast town of Whitehaven is 15 minutes away. It has a lovely marina and beautiful Georgian old town.
Wainwright's famous Coast to Coast walk passes close by and there are several lovely walks in the peaceful little known Calder Valley nearby.
The cottage has been recently renovated to provide light and airy contemporary and comfortable living. The side entrance door leads into the large open-plan living, dining and kitchen area. The large double patio doors leading out onto the garden and sitting out area.
The kitchen is well equipped with built-in gas hob, electric oven, a combination microwave, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, etc. It is lit by tracker spot lights and heated by contemporary chrome radiators. The seperate utility area is well equipped with a washing machine and small freezer. The downstairs WC and wash basin lead off from the utility area. There is hanging space for coats,etc.
The beamed lounge area has wood burner, comfortable seating for six people ,TV and DVD player and views to the garden from the patio doors, The dining area has table and chairs for six people. There are lots of books at the cottage that you are welcome to read during your stay.
A staircase leads off from the dining area to the first-floor bedrooms. The master double bedroom has an en-suite shower room and the further double bedroom has double doors opening out onto the Juliet balcony looking out to the garden. There is a further twin room and family bathroom with bath and electric shower over.
The large lounge patio doors lead out onto the rear garden with large patio area and table and chairs. From the patio are three terraced garden areas with pathways leading to hidden seats. The rear garden backs onto open fields and is not enclosed.
There is ample free parking in the parking area immediately opposite the front of the property.
