A handsome, country home sleeping up to 12 guests and set in gorgeous, leafy gardens, within the picturesque village of Lamplugh, close to Loweswater and Crummock Water.
This splendid barn conversion boasts a wonderful sitting room that makes a great area for everyone to get together in. The gardens are fabulous and include a secret garden in among the rhododendrons. There are also two neighbouring houses allowing several families to stay on the same site in separate houses if required.
Lamplugh is the perfect starting place to explore the fells, rivers, lakes and tarns of this beautiful part of the Lake District. There are a variety of walks right from the front door, or Loweswater Lake is just 3 miles away, with Buttermere and Crummock just a mile or two beyond. In the opposite direction is Ennerdale Lake with its forest walks and mountain biking.
For shops, Cockermouth (10 mins) has a Sainsbury's as well as a wide variety of smaller independent shops, pubs and cafes. The Kirkstile Inn at Loweswater is renowned throughout the Lakes for the quality of its food and ales. This 400-year-old pub has excellent food, open fires and its own brewery, and has been awarded the CAMRA Pub of the Year for West Cumbria and Western Lake District.
The main living accommodation is upstairs with a sumptuous living room which has a dining area to seat 12 in style. There are a variety of board games for entertainment and a widescreen TV. This is a light and airy room with chandeliers, comfortable seating, fantastic views and a large dining table which easily seats 12 (or more if you wish).
The kitchen is also upstairs - it is fully furnished with an electric, ceramic range cooker, two fridges, freezer, dishwasher, and microwave. There is also washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board in a small room off the downstairs hallway.
Downstairs, the spacious hallway leads to two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom, a bunk bedroom, a bathroom and an additional toilet. The bedrooms each have their own basin (with the exception of the bunk bedroom).
Upstairs is a further bedroom with a double bed and en-suite shower room. There is also an additional twin bedroom plus a bathroom with separate shower.
The property also has games room with a pool table and table football.
The garden is large with a big chestnut tree to provide some shade in the summer and conkers in the autumn. There is also a secret garden which opens out to a hidden BBQ area over one of the bridges across the stream (please remember to bring your own BBQ with you). There are many small nooks and crannies and plenty of outdoor furniture to help you enjoy the beauty of it all.
