The hamlet of Boot nestles in the Eskdale valley, one of the more tranquil valleys of the Lake District. A warm and comfortable house, this attractive holiday home is ideal for couples and small families, offering self-catering accommodation for up to four people with great views of the Lakeland fells.
Eskdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from Scafell at the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass, an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman bath-house. The river has natural pools for swimming and is a popular place for canoeing and for fishing.
In the Eskdale valley is an 18-hole golf course and private salmon fishing river. The famous Ravenglass and Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains leisurely making the seven mile journey down to the sea.
There are five pubs in Eskdale – one is almost opposite the cottage, whilst another is a 5-minute walk away. All welcome children and serve real ales and a wide choice of good food.
Eskdale village shop, Eskdale Stores, sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers. A public payphone is located 30 yards away, and there is some reception for mobile phones on the Orange network.
From the front door is the sitting room which is comfortably furnished and has TV and DVD player. There is an electric fire in this room in addition to the storage heaters.
The kitchen is to the back of the house and has great views of the Eskdale fells. It is fully equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with a large freezer compartment below, slimline dishwasher and washer drier. There is plenty of storage space here and a dining table with seating for four.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms - a twin and a king. There is also a bathroom which has a shower above the bath.
There is a patio at the back of the house which is accessed via the kitchen. There is garden furniture and great views and it catches the morning and early afternoon sun.
