From its picturesque location in the Eskdale Valley to its cosy and inviting interiors, this attractive stone cottage promises a memorable stay in the Lake District. Sleeping six guests across three bedrooms, this dog-friendly property is perfect for families and groups of friends seeking adventure and relaxation. While away days roaming fells, admiring gushing waterfalls and taking a steam train to the coast, then return here for al fresco meals on warm evenings and snug evenings gathered around the wood burner.

Laid out over two storeys, this traditional Lakeland cottage is warm and welcoming with country-style decor and neutral hues. Rest and recharge after adventurous days in the cosy lounge, wood burner cracking, as you watch TV or play on the Nintendo Wii, or slip away to the snug to curl up with a book. When tummies start to rumble, head to the characterful kitchen/diner where you’ll find everything you need to feed a crowd including a range oven and a farmhouse-style dining table. When night falls, three restful bedrooms invite you upstairs. Choose between two double rooms, one with cable TV, and a twin, which share use of the family bathroom. Outside, make the most of warm weather in the delightful cottage garden, which has a patio with outdoor dining and a grassy garden for kids and dogs to play. Off-road parking is available for two cars, with more space in a public car park if required.

Enjoy a gentle stroll at the charmingly named Giggle Alley Japanese Garden (0.2 miles) or set off to explore the multitude of trails from gentle fell walks to the challenging trek up England's highest peak, Scafell Pike (9 miles). For a day at the coast, hop on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, affectionately known as ‘La’al Ratty’ to the coastal village of Ravenglass (6 miles).

Lovely cosy cottage, has everything you need. Fantastic location with beautiful walks direct from the door, the road outside is a little busy/noisy at certain times of day.

On arrival to the cottage after a long journey we had brought food with us for the first night. However we found the kitchen very dirty and had to clean table and pans before cooking. Cottage in general was not up to standard of cleanliness we would have expected. As reported in a previous review the shower had mould around the seals. As for the gaRead morerden it was virtually unusable due to overgrown plants and brambles. There are many other comments I could make but unfortunately I've run out of room Hide

Cottage is in a lovely area. Two very nice dog friendly pubs within easy walking distance. The cottage was comfortable and very well equipped. If you are taking dogs make sure you have thier tick treatment up to date as our dogs picked up a few.

We had a lovely two weeks, location is perfect and The Bower House pub is wonderful and just a short walk away (torch at night though). Seascale Beach is only 7 miles away and its empty and beautiful. Wastwater is not to far with its stunning landscape and at the foot of Scafell Pike. A shop in the village. The garden is large but if you have any mRead moreobility issues its a little higgledy piggledy with very uneven steps. Although there are concrete steps at the back they are very high and steep. A really well appointed cottage in a beautiful area of the Lakes; the garden is magical with amazing views. The welcome pack was excellent and providing basics like dishwasher and washing tablets is so helpful. There was lots to do from the doorstep and plenty of places to visit nearby. Great communication from the owner beforehand checking that weRead more knew how to get there. This is a lovely place to stay. Hide
