Cosy, quaint bothy in an idyllic spot with beautiful rural views and its own quirky design, only a few miles from the vibrant market town of Keswick.
Rest and recharge at this charming bolthole in the heart of the Lake District National Park. The property sleeps one guest and makes the perfect base for independent explorers, looking to take on the mighty fells of Blencathra and Skiddaw (both within 10 miles). You’ll also be close to some of the Lake District’s most picturesque bodies of water, including Ullswater (11 miles) and Derwentwater (8 miles), both of which have gorgeous lakeside paths to explore.
The rural retreat is open plan and the ground floor comprises a small lounge/kitchen/diner. For a solo traveller, it’s the perfect place to unwind and get cosy after a day of fell walking. Rustle up a hearty meal in the cute kitchenette to enjoy at the sweet dining table or in the armchair, whilst watching the TV. A steep ladder leads to the first floor, where you’ll find an inviting single bedroom with a beamed ceiling, and a cleverly designed shower room, making maximum use of the compact space.
Threlkeld is the ideal base for keen walkers, with the dramatic fells of Blencathra and Skiddaw within easy reach. There are also some beautiful, low-level river walks in the area, and Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk passes through the village. Further afield, the Helvellyn range is within 15 miles, as is the picturesque Ullswater Way. After a long hike, head into Keswick (5 miles), where you’ll have a fantastic choice of independent restaurants and cosy pubs to dine in. Keswick sits on the banks of Derwentwater, and a cruise on the Keswick Launch is a lovely way to round off a day of sightseeing.
