A lovely country cottage with lots of character and features with some fabulous walks from your front door.

Relish the peace and quiet at this quaint two-bed cottage surrounded by beautiful Cumbrian countryside. Located in the peaceful village of Croglin in the Eden Valley, you can use it as a base for exploring the Pennines and the Lake District National Park while enjoying the tranquil ambience of this rural retreat. Get your boots on and walk with your canine companion during the day and, at night, head outside for some serious stargazing or just relax by the cosy wood burner. This comfortable property would equally appeal to one or two couples or a small family.

This stone cottage is pretty outside, with a wooden decorative porch welcoming you through the door to the open-plan living/dining room. Ensure you have a towel to hand for the dog in the useful interior porch. The lounge is packed with character, with beams on the ceiling, a wood burner in a stone inglenook and wooden floors. There’s a table seating four where you can tuck into holiday feasts prepared in the small but perfectly formed kitchen. The modern family bathroom is downstairs too. The bedrooms are versatile with one double and one twin which can become a super-king-size on request. Both are welcoming and relaxed spaces with wood-panelled ceilings and neutral decor for a restful night. There’s a small unfenced area outside with a bistro table and gorgeous views over the fields for a drink any time of the day.

There are walks aplenty from the village of Croglin itself. Carlisle is 16 miles away if you need to stock up on serious supplies. Otherwise, the Lake District and Hadrian’s Wall are all within 20 miles. Armathwaite village (6 miles) has a station on the famous Carlisle to Settle railway if you feel like hopping aboard your own holiday express!

This is a perfect little cottage for a couple in warmer weather. Sadly the weather was poor for us which meant that we had to use the log burner daily as the heating was insufficient.

Our family of 3, plus 1 dog, had a lovely week at Eden Cottgae. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, as were the sofa and chairs in the sitting room. The wee kitchen was well stocked with equipment and the house was clean throughout. The village pub was closed (temporarily?) which was a slight disappointment. We enjoyed exploring Hadrians Wall,Read more Winlatter Forest, and High Nick Cup, as well as walks straight from the door. Wed all happily return for another peaceful week! Hide

Great location for small group or family to reach Hadrian's Wall and other attractions in the northern part of the Lakes. Ideal base for cycling up Great Dun Fell and over Hartside Pass and beyond (part of the C2C). Recommend the pub at Castle Carrock and Talkin Tarn for picnic, boat hire and short walks. Beautiful location. Very peaceful. Perfect for a short break. We stayed longer so missed having a washing machine and a bath. Other than that, locals were friendly, owners are lovely - nothing too much trouble and nice little country pub at the end of the road. Lots of pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops in both Brampton (nearest town) and Penrith.
