Property code: 83002

A superb barn conversion close to beautiful Ullswater, this is the perfect holiday home for families or friends who want to explore this gorgeous corner of the Lake District National Park. Sleeping six guests, this spacious and beautifully furnished property is set in the lovely Matterdale Valley, with wonderful views from all the main rooms. Ullswater is within 4 miles and there is a wealth of walks on your doorstep.

There are spectacular views across the fells throughout the barn, which retains original features such as beams and a part-exposed stone wall in the spacious lounge. A lovely, light-filled room, it has floor-to-ceiling windows, with comfortable sofas where you can relax in front of the wood burner and enjoy the view. There is a streamlined kitchen, and the adjoining dining room has more splendid views. Upstairs are a family bathroom and three welcoming bedrooms with tranquil interiors, perfect for a peaceful night’s sleep. There are two king-size bedrooms with countryside views, and a twin bedroom. Outside, a raised patio with seating overlooks the fells and is a great spot to dine alfresco.

The barn is just 1 mile from Aira Force waterfall, fed by the Aira Beck as it thunders over boulders. Once an 18th-century pleasure ground, the National Trust landmark has woodland trails and a well-maintained path up to the dramatic, 20m waterfall. You can also arrive on an Ullswater Steamer from Glenridding (4 miles). There are four hop-on-and-off piers around the lake—a great way to explore this scenic landscape. Historic Dalemain Mansion (7 miles) is a fine stately home with 5 acres of colourful gardens to wander. Attractions in Keswick (13.5 miles) include Theatre by the Lake and Kong Adventure Centre, with fun indoor and outdoor activities for all ages.

  • 3 bedrooms - 2 king-size and 1 twin
  • 3 bathrooms – 1 en-suite wet room with shower and WC, 1 downstairs wet room with shower and WC and 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC
  • Electric oven and induction hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer
  • Utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer
  • Wood burner in lounge (first basket of logs included)
  • Smart TV in lounge with BT Sport (because of the rural area, unfortunately the terrestrial channels are unavailable).
  • Garden with patio area and seating
  • Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and in all bathrooms
  • Parking for 2 cars
  • Pub 1 mile away and farm shop 3 miles
  • Please be advised that the property does not have a car charging point, electric vehicle charging is not supported at the property.

Thank you for a lovely week at Hollows! Stunning setting, gorgeous converted barn with cool Scandi lodge feel, we loved staying here with our two teenage children. Comfy beds for holiday lie-ins, great showers and bathrooms (put on the hot water if you're all having baths), well-equipped kitchen, lots of spaces in and out of the house to sit and eaRead moret or read or chat or just drink up the views. Local pub/hotel does fantastic food and were very accommodating of our dietary requirements. Hide

Lovely week staying at Hollows. Wonderful property in a great location. Having come to the lakes for many years this was one of the best cottages we have stayed in, a real home from home.

Absolutely loved our stay at Hollows and would re-visit again at the drop of a hat. Beautiful location and was so restful to start the day staring out at the fells. The house is beautifully appointed and feels luxurious but homely. Loved it so much we extended our stay by a couple of nights.

An amazing cottage with everything you need. Remote enough to feel like you are at one with nature but close enough to towns and amenities should you need them. This was an ideal spot for a young family over the Christmas period. We watched Red Squirrels playing from the kitchen, dinning room and bedroom. We watched barn owls set out for the nightlRead morey hunt and watched the colour of the landscape change through windy storms to soft falling snow. All in comfort and luxury. Amazing! Hide
