Take a quirky holiday in Keswick with a mixed group and your dogs. This gorgeous stone property is near a few other holiday cottages in a mostly rural area in Cumbria. You’ll have a comfortable base with red squirrels in the garden, which you can watch from a unique structure. Further out, there are mountains, castles, stone circles and much more to make an incredible trip.

Enter the property and find a cosy lounge, perfect for unwinding in the evenings. There’s a wood burner, so if the evening is crisp, you can make everything snuggly. The decorations and furniture are eclectic, charming and timeless. Continue through to the dining area, which has a vintage teak table, and then go on to the kitchen. You’ll have plenty of options for cooking, with an oil AGA as a nice touch. The ground floor is completed with a WC and a utility room. Head upstairs and take a moment to check out the view from the landing window, then check out the bedrooms. One is a standard double room with an en-suite shower room, and the other has a double bed and a single bed in the same room. It also has an en-suite shower room. You’ll have access to an enclosed garden, plus a raised platform with a roof and a picnic bench, perfect for watching wildlife or having outdoor meals.

The house is in an area with a few other holiday properties, about 3 miles away from Keswick. Keswick is a bustling market town which borders Derwentwater, so you can splash around in the lake and then grab a bite in town or amble around the shops. Castlerigg Stone Circle, 5.5 miles away, is a fascinating remnant of ancient history, and certainly worth visiting.

A lovely place and we enjoyed our break here. Very olde worlde but it goes with the traditional cottage retreat. Views amazing and we enjoyed the outside sitooterie. Cleaning stuff very basic and we had to buy loo roll and washing up liquid etc However, beds very comfortable and clean. It was really nice and we had a good holiday.

A beautiful spacious cottage with fantastic views. Well equipped and had a very homely feeling. Plenty of off road parking. Owner lives next door and was very friendly and responsive when we encountered a problem with the oven. Welcome pack a little underwhelming so make sure you take enough dishwasher tablets for the number of days you are stayingRead more and as you cant get in before 5pm and nearest shops are in Keswick take milk so you can have a decent cupper. A great place to see red squirels. Hide

There were pros and cons. It is beautifully situated well outside Keswick but with easy access to the town and beyond. It has magnificent fell views from all front windows and the outdoor sitting area. It is a spacious, generally comfortable , potentially lovely old house, but many of the furnishings seem old and tired and it has a rather unloved fRead moreeel. When we arrived the house was very cold and unwelcoming and compared to many holiday rentals the welcome pack was meagre. Not even fresh milk. Hide

We had a lovely 2 week stay at this cottage. All the equipment you could ask for were provided and Joe the owner next door was a lovely person and dealt with any concerns or ready for a friendly chat.
