Get ready for a huge trip. This converted farmhouse would be the perfect place to host a family reunion or a getaway for a big group of friends. You’ll be staying in Redmain, a hamlet just outside Cockermouth, surrounded by beautiful countryside and fairly close to the sea.
Enter through a porch and go ahead into the lounge. It’s a comfortable and cosy place with exposed beams, a tiled floor and a wood burner. Continue to the conservatory, which is equipped with a dining table and a seating area, so make the most of the sunlight and look over the garden. There’s a formal dining table, and then a kitchen/diner with a long stone table. The ground floor also has a downstairs WC, pantry, boot room, utility room, and finally a double bedroom with an en-suite shower. Head upstairs, where you’ll find two twin rooms, both with en-suite shower rooms, and a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. Go through the hallway and up two more steps, where there are two double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms, and finally head to the upstairs corridor for two super-king-size bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Both have showers over the baths.
There are places all around you to explore and enjoy. To start with, plan a day on the beach in Allonby, 8.5 miles away, or go to Maryport, 7 miles away, which has coastline, go-karting, an aquarium and a marina. The closest town is Cockermouth, 3 miles away, where you’ll find lots of nice places to eat and a weekly market. Finish the break with a day at Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve (7 miles).
