Soak up the peace at this magnificent apartment, on the edge of Esthwaite Water. The property is surrounded by 40 acres of shared grounds and enjoys private access to the lake as well as an impressive children’s play area. Sleeping four guests, the apartment is perfect for a small family or couples’ retreat and has a bright, open-plan layout, ideal for entertaining. Wander along a footpath to the picturesque town of Hawkshead (1 mile) or explore Grizedale Forest (3 miles), with its network of fascinating walking trails.

A sweeping driveway leads to the apartment, which is set in an elegant country house. The property has been tastefully renovated, incorporating contemporary design and luxurious touches with beautiful original features. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is flooded with natural light and has plush seating to sink into and a stylish dining table in the bay window. Come together for film nights around the Smart TV or play games from the selection provided. The apartment has two super-king-size bedrooms which can be made up into twins on request. The surrounding grounds are quite spectacular. As well as 40 acres of gardens and woodlands, there’s also an excellent play area comprising swings, pitch and putt golf, and table tennis.

Stride down to the shores of Esthwaite Water where, in summer, you’ll have complimentary use of rowing boats. National Trust Hill Top (1 mile) – the former writing retreat of Beatrix Potter – is also set on the shores of the water. Literary enthusiasts will be mesmerised by her farmhouse, which has been preserved exactly how she would have left it. The property also has a magical cottage garden which is well worth exploring. Head into Hawkshead, which has an olde-worlde feel, to dine in one of the cute tearooms or drink in the cosy inns.

We had the most wonderful stay. 10/10 all round. The most magical surroundings with a hidden waterfall and stunning view of the lake. We walked up to the Tarn for a early morning swim which was perfect. Ideal location to explore the lakes and everything Beatrix Potter! Friendly welcome and top tips! We will most definitely be back again and again.
