Escape to this charming cottage in Hawkshead in the Lake District. Sleeping four guests, and also welcoming two of their dogs, the characterful, two-bedroom property enjoys proximity to local shops and pubs, as well as to museums dedicated to William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. From here venture 3 miles to Wray Castle on the shores of Lake Windermere, 3.5 miles to Coniston Water, with its magnificent walks, or 7 miles to the village of Grasmere.
Step inside this inviting retreat, hanging your jackets in the hall as you pass. Head through into the kitchen, with its revealed timbers and stone, to make a cup of tea to enjoy with the Grasmere gingerbread you have bought on a trip out. Prepare your meals and dine in here whenever you fancy a cosy night in. Also downstairs, is a double bedroom, again with a stone wall, and a family shower room. The other bedroom, also a double with en-suite shower room, is to be found upstairs adjoining the lounge. The lounge itself has comfortable seating and a TV/DVD to relax in front of after exciting trips out. There is also a snug with TV for alternative viewing or as a quiet space to escape to with your book for a while. Enjoy relaxing in the courtyard garden whenever the weather is fine. Watch children and pups near the stream. Parking at this cottage is on the road, on a first-come, first-served basis, with two permits available to guests.
Plan trips into Ambleside, 5 miles from the cottage. While you are here, wander in and out of the interesting shops, find places to dine, see the Roman fort and walk 0.5 miles down to the pier at Waterhead. From here you can board a launch and take a cruise on Lake Windermere.
