Outgate has a friendly pub and some wonderful walks with both Tarn Hows and Blelham Tarn nearby (both 2.5 miles). The bustling village of Hawkshead (1 mile) has plenty of great places to eat and drink and is home to Wordsworth’s Old Grammar School and the Beatrix Potter Gallery. To the east, climbers and walkers can head to Latterbarrow (2.5 miles) and Claife Heights (6 miles) or take in the views over Windermere from Wray Castle (2.5 miles) and the Claife Viewing Station (5 miles). Esthwaite Water is to the south (2 miles) with Coniston Water to the south-west (3.5 miles).
